There is a bit of comment around about the saints and how they have overpaid for their incoming players.

Kk, Sami , Drinkwater and now Metcalf.
Straight away elevated them to finals football.
Saints have identified that they have roster weaknesses and have grabbed the bull by the horns.
Good on them !! They have to be congratulated for reading the room.

Whereas us, we have massive holes in our roster and other than Sua, we do fruck all.

After our successes in the 80s, from 87, Fitzgerald purposely decided that the Eels didn’t require external elite players and they only bought ‘fill in players ‘ to refresh the roster.
Players like Ken Wolffe etc thinking that our highly fancied juniors , who were winning everything at that time would usher us into another golden era.
It failed and it sent us into a decade of dross.

Are we headed in the same direction?
Are we sitting back just putting all the faith into our juniors coming through instead of addressing the weaknesses NOW ??

It’s a very very risky strategy.
