Roosters kick off running to the north end. The teams exchange a set. Eels go left and Fom DeStradis runs a great line off Hunter and splits the defence around halfway. He draws the fullback and finds Lynn in support. Try time between the sticks.

Hunter converts.

Eels 6 Roosters nil after five minutes.

Eels complete set after points with a deep kick. Roosters in yardage. Hang on they split the Eels down the left edge and the support runs steam through as they post a long range try.

Angled conversion successful

Eels 6 Roosters 6 seven minutes gone

Roosters get to the kick after points and find touch 30 out. Great cut out to Alameddine and he cuts back infield and is brought down 30 out. Right now to Hunter but he throws an intercept. Roosters now into the red zone. Penalty for a high shot. Big cut out to the right winger on the last but somehow Alameddine covers it with assistance. Last tackle kick from Parra goes deep towards the right corner post. Roosters like their chances on the left and they nearly break away again. Big run from Brown in the Eels next set as he drives through to the 30. To the right now as space is created for Avery but the pass is clearly forward. Roosters scrum.

The wind might be playing havoc with the passes here. The Roosters get away with a forward pass but are then pulled up for one on the next play.

The Eels advance into the Roosters half. I think that was Neemia with a big surge. The Eels again go left and Hunter slices through the line. Alameddine looms in support but with the fullback worried about the pass Hunter dummies and scores himself.

Conversion swings left

Eels 16 lead Roosters 6 after 25 minutes.

Oh the Eels butcher a try as Faitala-Mariner breaks the line but then throws a poor pass to Avery who drops it about 40 out. Roosters now back in possession. Hang on! Hunter has stolen the ball one on one and he’s off for the prize beside the left upright.

He converts his own try.

Eels 22 lead Roosters 7 after 29 minutes

Eels drop the kick off. We see this every week with an Eels error after points turning over momentum. They need to defend this. Roosters scrum ten out. Eels go right from the scrum and the winger dives over in the corner.

Conversion misses as the kicker has a bit of a stumble

Eels 22 lead Roosters 10 after 32 minutes.

Momentum change. Roosters big bopper break the line from the kick off. They’re back to the red zone and go right. The centre releases a Gidley-esque pass as Alameddine gets interested. The winger looks like he’s been put into touch but the touchie who is well behind play rules it ok.

Conversion is short

Eels 22 lead Roosters 14 after 35 minutes

Again this turn over of momentum from basic errors is something that the Eels must guard against. It rears its head every week and now the Eels give away a penalty after the kicker off.

High kick that ends with a scramble for possession. Parra ball. Faitala- Mariner breaks down the right and is dragged down ten out. Left now and De Stradis breaks tackles in front of the posts to do it all himself.

Conversion looks good but falls short into the strong wind.

Eels 38 lead Roosters 36 after 72 minutes

Not sure how to write this up. The Roosters fullback almost carries Lynn’s last tackle kick  into touch. He runs across field and is almost knocked onto tomorrow in front of the posts. The ball comes loose and they do well to only give away a line drop out.
Long drop out and it goes past the catchers and the Eels pick it up 20 out from their own line!

Parra get onto the red zone on the last but the Roosters get into the field of play from their own line kick.

Parra defend the set well and start their next set close to half way. Back to the red zone and Neemia goes within millimetres on the fifth. Right now and what a play from De Stradis. Now playing right centre this half. The ball is to him on the bounce and he smartly controls it off his legs, picks it up and storms through the defence to score.

Hunter converts from out wide

There is definitely a player in Hunter, could be in the running for five eight next year as he is a solid body

This game is a shambles. Both teams.

Mohamed Alameddine has a lot to work on. Catching bombs and defensive decisions. I can see why he is being held back in cup. I don’t understand why some of our forwards aren’t being pushed up to cup now though. Especially with all the players out this week. Do we really need 4 Masey cup players in our forward pack?

I dont know if Domenico De Stradis will ever make it but he is all class. Such a professional.
