I assume the hip-drop tackle in flegg last week injured Latu? Really want to see him progress through. I rate him much more then Brazel.

I don’t understand why Alamadine and Tuivita are not playing cup. The have to do it now before players like Mataele, Dunster, Tuilagi, etc come back from injury.

I hope the shit to fullback does not affect Twiddle’s form. He has been our best player in attack when a 5/8. Set up all 3 tries last week

Does anyone know if Brad will be there to award Matt’s jersey?

That would be awesome if it happens, Brad means a lot to a lot of the players not just Matt, it would probably lift their sprits and be an emotional moment for people there, especially Matt A.

      1. Tanky

I read that brad was invited but declined because he didn’t want to take the limelight off Matt. But his wife and son Jake will present the jersey. Nice that the club wanted him involved

        1. Spark

Yes it was very classy by the club.
The board gets a lot of crap but I honestly think they are doing everything now to address our shortcomings.
Brad should have swallowed his pride and attended, I’m sure it would have meant the world to Matt.

          1. sixties

No Spark, this is zero to do with Brad’s pride and everything to do with leaving the focus on Boods. If he’s there, it brings the media focus back on him. It also disrupts the focus of the players. They’ve just moved past Brad’s departure. Their head space is much better now than it was for the first couple of weeks. If Brad was there it puts a focus on him. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about BA it’s that he has never wanted that focus. If anything it’s quite a magnanimous call.

True 60’s even if some of us fans (just like with all teams) we can disagree with some players selections of teams lifts, etc.

One thing we can’t deny is Brad is a team, player, club first line of a bloke.

He never wanted praise or spot light on him, even like when you mentioned that time you tried to ask him about how that overcame things in the past I think you mentioned..

and Brad gave credit to players & staff in the team or whatever.

Or even when he left didn’t try to deny, create drama, or complain about the club.. he was grateful and appreciative of the opportunity.

The fact most long term players thought of him like a dad type figure, shows he was selfless in a sense and cared about others a lot.

p.s the last thing we need and the players is another media circus taking place with Brad there.

I personally would have loved to have seen the videos of him there, people don’t realise how much this club means to Brad and his kids who have both become nrl players, even if Jake is not a regular…

that in itself is a massive achievement, most familes could put kids into footy and invest into the best development – they could have 20 kids and be lucky to have 1 kid play a NRL game in his career.

It’s a testament to their dedication and commitment to the game but also our club.

So for most of us, I would have loved to have seen it.

But for the bigger picture, making the focus go to Boods and no media circus etc taking place.

I completely understand that and believe it’s better.

At least his mum etc will be there.

I don’t know Brad personally but from his actions and words in the past.

He would be thinking of the players, team, and Matt’s benefit first.

People have got to remember Brad is full blue and gold to heart first and foremost.

            His sons are too.

I don’t believe Brad is making this about him,

Can you imagine the media circus and mixed emotions it would bring with BA back in there.

It would also possibly pin the BA haters against Boods even more,

Saying he’s only there because of Brad etc.

I can see the point it’s better to keep spot light on mat, leave Ba out of it.

The media and haters will have some type of circus or whatever they will make of it.

Plus probably could effect playing group, as they move on from the old coach.

          3. Ed dawson

BA showed humility by not attending, he would have been grilled and he doesn’t need to curry support and take spotlight of young matt , it would have been a right old bbq session by the media.

        2. Muz

Damn that sucks he won’t go, but Brad may feel he personally just needs to move on and let his son progress in his career at parra and not share the spot light. Fair enough on brads behalf.

Obviously most of fans would have liked to have seen the proud father & son moment.

I agree Tanky, nice to see the club invited him.

          1. sixties

Well said Muz. And of course supporters would like to see it but this is an instance where we want what’s best for Boods and also the playing group.

          2. Namrebo

Too true. While it would have been nice to see BA hand over the jersey the media circus would have been all about the wrong things. Personally I think BA has been nothing but a class act over the last few weeks, as he was before.

      2. Muz

        I agree Namberoo.

Probly would have become a media circus. Lol

I almost feel like it’s going to be better for Matt’s career too without ba as his coach.

Heaps of idiots will say nepotism and his only in because of being coaches son.

Some will maybe even suggest now when he plays, it’s because he is the former coaches son 🤣

But legit – media virus for sure would have contaminated the good moment of Matt’s jeresy presentation.

Although, I obviously would have liked to have witnessed it thru eels media.

    Another great show, thanks gents.
I hope the Blues win, more so because Moses is playing. I’m praying he gets through the game unscathed.
I’d like to see Jake Arthur back at the club, I believe his future is in the forwards, he’s at an age where his body is filling out, a good preseason bulking up could turn him into the skillfull, mobile back rower we need. I’d love to see the brothers playing together.
Im happy for Jarryd, I hope the guy can get on with his life now. I don’t condone violence against anyone on any scale, I do feel Jarryd has been punished enough.
The NRL can’t be serious about taking Jarryds awards, guilty or not. He was the winner, is the winner and can only ever be the winner of those awards. You can’t erase history, it’s done.

    1. Spark

I reckon there will be a fair few eels players headed for the Super League.
Players like Dunster ,Greig and Russell will probably find a future there.
Jake will go really well over there.

      1. Muz

Spark heaps of our players are Legit only super league quality players now.

You saw good moses looked with quality players around him tonight.

Lomax and Moses looks like a good combination.

  3. MickB

Thanks gents, good to see the Blues win. Albeit I feel like origin is designed to keep Queenslanders interested between Broncos premierships. So I don’t really trust it as a genuine spectacle.

In terms of listener questions – I’d love to hear an episode about you reconstructing the team and coach. Whole top 30 if time permits, but at minimum a starting 13 or 17. Talking realistically what you’d be doing if you were say in MO’Ns shoes. Who would you trade out, who would you keep, who would you look to buy / swap in.

  4. pete

Moses had his best game ever. It was a master-class. I just hope he brings that form back. His defence was elite.
Imagine Eels had that kick chase on Moses kicks…
Lomax will add such confidence to the team. Especially when Moses is taking charge of the outcome.
Good luck to Matt Arthur he’s been knocking on the door all year.
    This game is very winnable.
    Go Eels
