The Tip Sheet – 2024 Ep 44: Magic Round Mania

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

Sixties has jam packed the docket for this week’s news edition of The Tip Sheet…and that doesn’t even manage to cover everything as Magic Round mania sets in across the code.

The boys cover a busy week in Parradise with the latest on Blaize Talagi, the weekend results and hot news from Team List Tuesday. Who has made the cut against the Storm on Sunday and did ‘BA’ get it right across the board?

Another weekend of close results in the NRL means a spicy Round 10 wrap up and the boys look at all the controversial calls and tight finishes. Controversy found its way to the officials once again on the back of the questionable Harry Grant sin-bin – where exactly is the game trending?

David Fifita has backflipped and Forty jumps in from the editing floor to quickly comment on the crazy turn of events while once again there are ugly claims of racist fans abusing Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker.

The show closes out with a temperature gauge on Magic Round and whether the boys are still feeling the magic.

Disappointing news about Moses, i wonder if the club is stalling his return to avoid Origin selection.
I’m excited about Matt Arthur, his deput is imminent, I hope the season is not done and dusted by then.
Forties is global the phenomenon now, it will be sad to see him leave TCT but the world is calling. I have a friend who owns a holiday Igloo in Alaska, the naitives are big fans of Fortie.
Again great show boys and thanks for the two hours plus of entertainment.

Good listen fellas, thanks for the show.

Interesting discussion around team selection. On Lane, I agree he has been very disappointing this. One thing not touched on when talking about him was all his 2023 injuries. I’ve mentioned before that I wonder if his confidence has taken a hit and this is affecting his play. I do also wonder if a short break would do him good.

Media today around Blaize and the Dargons. I think Blaize’s manager has his fingerprints all over that story.

Thanks again for your thoughts and work.

Great podcast again gents. I too thought our style of play was encouraging and was glad to see a change feom our very predictable pattern of one out hit ups. I was particularly happy with what I thought looked like greater line speed in defence.
I thought Sivo at least was taking more runs out of our end but agree with everything that was said about the nature of those runs. As for Lane I do t think he has ever come back with confidence from that broken jaw.
My only gripe is the lack of a spotlight being put on Paulo who is on huge money, is also our captain but delivers very little. I am amazed he is still getting picked. He started the season well and made 100m+ in the first 3 rounds but since then only once against the Cowboys has he completed it. But worse than that are his efforts in defence often having a rest tucked in behind the play the ball and not moving up leaving gaps and forcing others to cover for him. I think if you looked at the times he is the field and compared the times when teams score against us there would be a direct correlation.
