With the NRL and NSW Cup squads on the bye The Tip Sheet turns its focus to Parramatta’s Jersey Flegg squad and the wider NRL action in Round 18.
Sixties and Forty20 analyse how the Flegg can build on their win over the Sharks last week as they host the Wests Tigers on Saturday. With Ethan Sanders back healthy and Matt Arthur slotting into the starting team, the SG Ball spine has been fully reunited in the grade above. Can that be the catalyst for a late surge towards the finals?
In the absence of senior Parramatta games, the boys run their eyes over the full round of NRL and give their tips for the weekend.
The NRL top 8 won’t be as surprising by seasons end. Teams are sorting themselves out now.
Tks men.A random observation, 2 games …Cowboys v Souths last week and Penrith v Storm last night. In both games the first 30 minutes was difficult to pick the winner. Both losing teams (Souths and Storm) played like top 4 aspirants but strangely got dusted with each game turning late in the first half and the winner escalating in the second. The common theme was the mental application of both Cowboys and Penrith, they dealt with pressure and adversity but maintained energy, concentration and discipline.
Some signs for September?
Good observation. Storm have always been a team that front ends their energy in an attempt to break their opponents down mentally with an early assault.
You could see around the 25-30 minute mark the Storm were beginning to bunch and lose their shape.
The DT this morning ran an article by their experts. They were all attempting to pick the top 8.
Carryannis had the Eels missing the top 8. Even those who had the Eels making the 8 had them at 7 or 8th.
I thought it was interesting to get their take.
All good mate we just fly under the radar
