The Tip Sheet – 2022 Ep 53: Eels Eye Top 4, 6-In-A-Row Against Broncos

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

With no NSW Cup or Jersey Flegg this week, Sixties and Forty20 go all out previewing a pivotal clash against the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL. The Eels and Broncos lead off Round 19 with a Thursday night game at CommBank Stadium and the boys breakdown the resurgent Brisbane franchise and how they have turned it all around in 2022.

Of course there is plenty of Parramatta talk as well with the Eels’ steady build against the Tigers and Warriors positioning them ideally for a tilt at the Broncos this week. The prize? Potentially a berth in the Top 4 by the end of the week. Not only that but the Blue & Gold are looking to cash in their 6th straight win over the Broncos.

The boys will be live from Jacks Bar & Grill for the post-game debrief tomorrow night. Steve Ella is the guest of honour this week and he has some big boots to fill after Neville Glover wowed a full house with his smooth moves on the dance floor!

Great preview of a very important game. If both Reynolds and Mitch turn it on it will be cracker of a game. Hoping the edge the Eels have over the Broncos continues. Parra by 4. RCG first try scorer. Sivo to score a double.

I think that we can win this one. The Broncos are a good side on the same points as us. That I believe is the driver, along with the camp on the coast to prime them for the game.

I think it will be close 10 point margin.

For the six day turn around we are four from six which is the same as our season winning percentage of 67%.

Our best is 5 day turn around at 100%. Small sample two from two. Our worst result is eight days or more where we are at 50%

John, I reckon the longer turn around is generally associated with a bit of time off. Our mental approach never seems to be good with that. Let’s see how the impact of bonding and focussed prep goes this week.

Just one more stat about the Eels. They have only played two teams that sat above them on the ladder. They were Panthers and Storm. We beat both.

When we played the Sharks in the second round. They were coming of a loss and we had beaten the Titans.

Playing the Cowboys it was a bit of an ambush. They had been beaten by the Dogs and Warriors. Plus the already discussed issues of travel and Climate. The Eels underestimated them and paid the price.

I think the Eels will be taking the game tonight very seriously.

Look i am somewhat confident about this game than some; but i am wary that Brisbane have improved and Reynolds has often torn us to bits; I will be happy with a 1-2 point win. If we win this it will go a long way to getting back into the top 4 which i did not think we could get back after some bad losses. Forwards must go forward first and then look at moving them around; and our spine have to lead us. Its simple stuff.
This game will tell me if the team have taken some ownership of their recent form as we have a chance to 3-3 and also the rumours around our coach could also galvanize them – but they should not need this.

Hey Milo, hope you’re enjoying that English heat wave! The spine are gradually getting back into stronger form, and I’ve tipped Reed to have that big game tonight. Glad you have a bit more confidence back.

Thank you 40/20 and Sixties for another excellent preview, and what a game for Moses to wipe his arse with Crawley’s latest!

    Go Parra!!

Thank. That would be sweet Paul. Crawley – you know what, I can’t really write what I think. We don’t go down that path with our comments but damn he pushes the buttons.

Brisbane to win , I have no faith in the Eels anymore can’t wait for the Dolphins to enter the comp better than watching this pathetic awfully coached team. As a old pensioner this side is a disgrace.

Gee Poppa I am surprised to hear those words out of a good Dundas boy.

I thought you were one of the more resilient types being a baby boomer.

Reynolds has really elevated the Broncos playing group compared to recent years. This will be a much tougher match this year.
I’m still confident that the training camp was a great strategy to get the team on the same page as I believe a few were not.
For mine, Reed, Gutho and Simmonson is where our improvement needs to start from. These guys have been the most inconsistent all year.
    Go Eels!!
