The Tip Sheet – 2022 Ep 30: Instant Reaction, Eels Rally Late For Gutho’s 150th

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

It wasn’t champagne rugby league but the Parramatta Eels rallied when it counted to lodge a 22-20 victory over the Sea Eagles in Clinton Gutherson’s 150th NRL game.

Sixties and Forty20 jump into a belated instant reaction after a big post-game show at the Parramatta Leagues Club to discuss how the Eels won a tough game. The boys look at a string of controversial calls, coupled with an rebound effort from the Sea Eagles that led to the game going down to the final minutes and seconds of play.

Sixties makes an impassioned plea for the Eels to put Ryan Matterson under lock and key with a brand new contract after the dynamic forward posted another excellent game. The duo discuss their best on field before breaking down a solid win in the NSW Cup that was highlighted by the return of Maika Sivo.

The Gutho first try. At the game I thought he was hard done by. After looking at it on replay I am certain that he was hard done by.

Given that I am at my daughters house at the moment and she does not have Fox Sport, I watched it on NRL.com with the Chanel 9 coverage.

Joey who seems to have fallen out of love with the Eels very quickly agreed with the GOAT that the Try had to be taken off Gutho. Then Billy Slater came on and disagreed completely.

Billy thought that there were two Manly players at the contest and could not work out who was going to take the ball and mucked it up. On the other hand Hayze only had eyes for the ball and did nothing wrong.

I am with Slater. It was a terrible decision.

How long is Ky Rodwell out for? Also how did Hand go yesterday in State Cup?

Perham’s eyes are the sticking point for myself and Sixties as well. He is clearly tracking and playing for the ball the entire time. Obviously you roll with the punches but that was an early momentum swing in the game.

Rodwell should be back this week mate. I thought Hands struggled for impact in his first game at lock forward but it was tough sledding in the wet conditions. He has been great in both the halves and dummy half so I am not too fussed at the performance.
