The Tip Sheet – 2022 Ep 4: Co-Captains & All-Stars

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

As the preseason continues to whir into overdrive The Tip Sheet ramps up itself. This week’s episode hits off with the announcement of club co-captains as talismanic prop forward Junior Paulo is elevated alongside inspirational fullback Clinton Gutherson to lead the Blue & Gold. Sixties and Forty20 discuss the move and how it reflects on Junior’s personal journey and the growth of his character.

The conversation then turns to All-Star week where the Eels are heavily represented in the NRLW while Wiremu Greig carries the flag for the club in the NRL.

During post production we realised that our focus was on the player representation in the All Stars matches. In doing so, we overlooked recognising Eels assistant coach, David Kidwell, who just happens to have the important role of Maori All Stars coach. Congratulations David and our apologies for the omission.

Parramatta news this week is rounded out on two positive fronts with the announcement of the Johnny Mannah Walk 4 Lymphoma and the fact that the Eels have officially sold out of sponsorship slots for their NRLW program.

Sixties shares the latest from training as the NRL squad begin preparations for their first trial against the St George Illawarra Dragons. As almost always, the show closes out with Joey Grima joining the boys to breakdown the latest from the Junior Representatives. Joey reflects on a testing opening week for our pathways and analyses where they will need to improve to take down the Canterbury Bulldogs in Round 2.

So much covered here, and such a player focus, that we forgot to acknowledge David Kidwell’s important role in the All-Stars game. Apologies mate. Congrats on the role and best wishes for the match.
