The Tip Sheet – 2021 Ep. 59: Merry Christmas And Farewell To 2021!

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

The Tip Sheet farewells 2021 on a high note following the news of Junior Paulo’s 4-year contract extension. Before that though they talk a different kind of junior with Joey Grima as they check in on the junior representative pathways before the Christmas break in what is their busiest period of the year.

Sixties and Junior discuss the importance of retaining Paulo and how it tips the scales back towards the Eels in terms of their long-term outlook. With one of their talismanic leaders committed to the club for four more years, Parramatta have two monstrous cornerstones for their forward pack in Paulo and Reagan Campbell-Gillard.

The additions of Josh Hodgson for 2023 and Bailey Simonsson for next season give Parramatta a distinctly Canberran flair to recruitment. The boys weigh up the pros and cons that the grizzled veteran Hodgson will bring to the roster.

The boys zip through the Blue & Gold news with Jock Brazel earning an invitation to the Future Blues camp while the club finalised its NRLW roster for the first of two competitions in 2022.

It couldn’t be any more fitting to sign off for 2021 than to get a comprehensive run down from training from Sixties. He talks Forty20 through the new faces, who is impressing – including the sensational arrival of Bailey Simonsson.

And with that we put the full wrap on the year of 2021! We would like to wish all our listeners and readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May you eat an outrageously large amount of delicious food and enjoy the company of those you love. See you in 2022!

Sixties, its been a great year really for the eels even with the player losses but in saying that, I believe we are very much a stronger team across the board with the players we have and those signing up again. There will I think more signings to take place next year as well, I really see a great future for players, club and supporters going forward.

To all on the TCT team, I would extend to all, along with the TCT followers all the best for a happy and safe Christmas & for the New Year, take care and be safe.

The re-signing of Junior this week has been very uplifting for the club and supporters. Personally I have received a real boost as a result.

The signing of JH undoubtedly has some risk to it but on the upside he brings a lot of upside and enables us three years to bring through a young replacement under his guidance for the 2 years of his tenure.

Simonsson is a little bit of an unknown but could end up being a real talent and future asset for the club. He has 2 years to cement his place and earn an extension.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish players and club officials and all TCT followers and posters a merry Christmas.

Also special regards to Gutho and his partner on the imminent arrival of their first child.

its a good point that you raise about the extension of Junior being uplifting. It’s the point I was trying to make about the psychological impact of his contract – I reckon you were more succinct than I was!
      And timing was everything.
if he signed during the year, or earlier than he did, it would have been just as important. Yet the impact of adding his name after we lost players has become the impetus needed going into the Christmas break.
John, thank you for your continued input and support of TCT.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

As always thank you keeping us Eels obsessives well informed. May you both and all the TCT readers have a great Christmas and Happy New Year. And may the best present of all not be delivered till October 2022.

Shaun I’ll second that final thought of yours. Thank you for your opinions and support of TCT, and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Tks Forty and sixties. I think the thing with Josh Hodgson is how his body holds up. I take the point about his style of playing, but the guy has just about done it all at top level and the Raiders we’re pretty stiff in that 2019 GF with Hodgson leading the team around the park. I like the way he probes around the ruck, arguably something that we’ve approached selectively. Surely he’s got the nous to fit into our patterns and look for our strengths to play to.Time will tell.
Thanks to all at TCT for bringing NRL and the Eels to a public forum that enhances the game and the knowledge of fans. NRL is one of the easiest games to knock but hardest on the planet to play. Somewhere in all that we need cool heads, good information and great entertainment. Well done, much appreciated, and Merry Xmas, enjoy your break!
