The Tip Sheet – Round 16 Review

Embarrassing. Atrocious. Appalling. To say the Eels capitulated to the Rabbitohs on Thursday night is underselling the magnitude of their ineptness as they crashed and burned to a 38-0 loss.

Sixties and Forty20 don’t pull any punches this week as they wade into the carcass of last night’s defeat. The boys challenge the team’s headspace and their refusal to roll up their sleeves in recent weeks. The deep dive into our issues in both attack and now defence hits on micro and macro issues as the duo try to figure out how the Eels strayed so far from the principles that have made them such a formidable team in 2020.

With an injury cloud hanging over Dylan Brown and a potential one-week suspension (Note – we missed the MRC charge at the time of recording) in line for Reagan Campbell-Gillard, the Eels are looking at a number of forced and unforced roster moves come Team List Tuesday. The fellas forecast who they think will get the call in a crucial clash against the New Zealand Warriors.

Tks guys. The definition of insanity…doing the same inept stuff over and over and expecting improvement. If Taka can control his urges for risky plays, just stick to doing the basics well, he will deliver better defensive outcomes than Waqa. I think we ve got to try it, and not expect miracles in one game.

The injury to Dylan concerns me – his absence complicates the capacity for change. I was advocating two changes. With a forced change in the halves are we likely to make two more changes on top of that? I reckon it’s less likely.

Hi boys another well done. I am still in shock after last night It would not surprise me if Brad keep the same side. The booing which in my mind is terrible is not on and i had a go at a young bloke sitting near me at half time i told that i never did that in all the years i have been supporting our club we have been through worse times than this year. keep up the good work boys you know how much i look forward this stuff. It was good that Ham came up and spoke to me i miss all you fellas. Thanks again

Cheers Joe. We were down in bay 119 last night. Certainly didn’t like the lack of talk on the field and the poor body language. I was embarrassed as a supporter to hear the boos. I think that injury to Dylan changes the selection landscape

Having never seen Kyle Schneider play can you tell me if he has variation and guile at dummy half. Doe’s he run the ball ? What is his current status, thanks.

Kyle is on a Development contract. He’s in the bubble so he trains with the team. As far as dummy half style – let me repeat style, it’s not a comparison – he plays like Cam Smith. Which means, he’s been captain of his teams and plays a calm, measured game management role, with general play kicking and goal kicking roles thrown in. He’s not a runner. Kyle is only 20 but injuries impacted his game time in the previous 2 years. This year was going to be important but as he’s in the bubble he only trains. He doesn’t get any game time.
