Chris Ricketts joins Forty20 to preview all of the Round 13 action against the Newcastle Knights in the latest episode of The Tip Sheet. The boys make a quick pit stop to check in on the two Origin results as NSW stole Game 1 from QLD in controversial circumstances on Wednesday while the Blues completed a historic series sweep on Thursday night.
It is a triple header at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday as the Eels and the Knights clash across the Jersey Flegg Cup, NSW Cup and NRL. Forty20 and Chris break down all three grades as the Eels look to surge out of the bye.
With Mitchell Moses and Jonah Pezet ruled out this week, the burden falls on Ronald Volkman and Joash Papalii in the halves – can the rest of the team lift in order to make their jobs easier? Likewise there are concerns over the lightweight pack the Eels have named this week. How do they find a way to stack up against the in-form Newcastle middles?

Hopefully ponga is quiet 🤫
He definitely looked dangerous playing for QLD
Do we Stand a chance? I hope to see a good performance here after a bye week.. hopefully our boys are rested up
Go parra
Ah the Parramatta Eels.. we should be renamed the Temu Eels.
Just like Temu products, look ok. Cheap. You hope that it works like the more expensive brands and sometimes, just sometimes it works well .. until it breaks and you realise that you should have just laid down some cash for the good stuff.
Like a new set of Temu spanners we may even go set to set with the Knights, a fellow struggler and it may give us some hope that finally we have beaten the odds and bought a bloody good set of spanners but as the English say … it will be all for nought!
What’s going on with Moses? Laurie said it’s not serious and he might be playing this weekend then he’s not named at all, it’s strange there’s been no injury update
Is he out for a week or is it season ending?
Be interesting to see who stands up for us this week, no pressure Harrison 🧐
I can not simply wrap my head around Sam running out in reserve grade. It’s decisions like this that make you start to wonder what are we actually doing. He plays limited impact minutes as it is and we only realistically need 20-25 minutes out of him. His our best front rower available but instead we roll out 4 lightweight guys who are all 13’s in a team that regularly gets steamrolled.
Our team just looks bog average at the moment and every week just gets harder to watch. They’ll need to be absolutely faultless to win this game which is actually quite sad to say against a team like the knights. 6 months can be a lot in football it just shows what a few key recruitment calls can change.
Here’s to hope just like most of 2026
Agree with you comments apropos Tuiviti, it’s hard to know where to look with Parra this year, there’s been spot fires everywhere
It may well be a shambles at the moment but I still think Lorenzo should be playing, if we are waiting for Moses to be back and for the weather to be right and for everyone else to be unavailable then it’s just not going to happen, get him out there now
Royce Hunt is up for grabs, he would be a good get given we currently have zero folding ability
