The Tip Sheet previews three games this week as the NRL, NRLW and HNWP take to the field. Sixties and Forty20 reject the Spoon Bowl and embrace the Mariana Trench Trophy ahead of the Parramatta Eels and Wests Tigers fighting over who avoids finishing last. What lead is safe this weekend? Who will finish this cursed season strongly for the Blue & Gold?
Finals are beyond the HNWP but they have a chance to finish these season strongly after their stunning upset of the Wenty Magpies last week. How do they look as they prepare for Mounties? A home game against the Titans is on the docket for our NRLW but they are going to without star forward Kennedy Cherrington. Breanna Eales will take her place but what do the team need to do to both overcome the injury blow and correct course back towards the finals?
Thanks for the year gents. Hard work given results on field, particularly when you hold yourselves to professional standards that avoid speculation and low-brow click bait. I’m sure that’s why so many of us enjoy and respect what you do.
Personally I didn’t see this as a season of what-ifs. The first game where we clinically dismantled the Dogs had me with high-hopes, but 4-5 weeks later it felt like the season was already toast.
Left edge defence aside, our patchwork team of rookies and part time footballers has performed better than our full strength side. This suggests to me the team had been stale with insufficient change, new blood/thinking and ideas. A bit like Muggo said on the podcast about Jack Gibson not staying at one club for more than 3 years. Not seeking to blame BA, but a broader issue of not enough of a refresh of ideas occurred.
I’ll avoid tipping tomorrow. Will be watching the game with a few mates at a pub, hoping we don’t bottle it.
Well said. Also agree the patched up team of rookies has performed better at times than our full strength side. What Muggo was suggesting seems true from our roster to coaching staff. I still think we have got a lot of talent in this team. The issue has always has been our edge defence being the Achilles heel which costs us countless games. I wonder if gutho defending their next year might stop it.
Sorry guys but it’s already the referee’s calls that have got us here.
We beat Penrith but ridiculous decisions let 2 illegal plays give them the game.
We have a much better team than the Tigers but there’s a care factor there.
It’s obvious Talagi thinks commitment to a tackle is beneath him.
The others will all turn up.
Eels by 30.
Thanks for the efforts this year guys.
Back to the 8 next year.
At the conclusion of the Marianas Trench Trophy, I believe the losing team is presented with small wooden spoon medallions. They then do the lap of dishonour that follows Andrew Abdo around the field as he rings a bell and cries “Shame!” Let’s hope it is the Tigers.
And for the last time, RCG first try scorer and Sivo to score a double.
