I still feel we need to move Barrett on, didn’t like his signing and since being with the club we have struggled, missing the finals last year and look at this year already…..
Then the conversation about Cayless coaching the NSW cup team, how they going since his appointment…..

    Thanks for the podcast.

    Great gritty win.

How can this attitude come and go in a football team ?

    Lussicks best game

    Harper’s best game

    Asi best game

    Dylan best game

    Juniors best game
So good having a left foot kicker with Dylan. Asi allowed Dylan to play a more natural game. Running over 100m and took the pressure off Dylan.

Depth still an issue hopefully Bailey is fine. Gutho still putting in despite being held together with tape. Hopefully we are done with injury and suspension.

Hey Pete. I guess you can apply inconsistency to most teams in the NRL save Penrith. Look at the Cowboys. They were playing a team that is busted, and without their halfback. They open up the Eels defence early but can’t go on with it.

      1. Russ

They also opened us up for three other bombed tries. We shouldn’t forget that. It was only last ditch defence that neutered that. Our huge problem in H1 was ball security. Either stopped or unforced penalties. I’m glad we tightened up for H2, but a Bronkeys etc team will rip us a new one at those numbers. Great to win though and I’m mainly proud of the teams efforts.

A week is a long time in rugba leeg. Nice to celebrate a win. I’ve only watched the highlights so I appreciate discussing how the game unfolded. If they can bottle this then by the time Mitch returns Parra could be well placed.

And nice to see Daejarn ice the field goal. I hope he gains confidence from his performance.

    Bring on the Phins!

Love your Instant Reaction. Always great after a win. Definitely Dylan’s best game taking on a new role since the injury to Mitch.

He would definitely be my 3 point pick. For 1 and 2 points share between DJ, Gutho and Junior. Furthermore I thought Joe O probably had his best game since joining the Eels.

Still need improvement in our football but a win is a win, particularly with Moses out.
The usual suspects stood up when needed – Gutho, RCG, Junior, Hopgood. I thought Simonsson had a decent game and hope he’s fit for next week, his effort plays covering on defence were good and something you wouldn’t get from Sivo. His yardage work is improving as well.
It’s been well reported but our recruitment strategy must focus on speed. With how compressed our defensive line is we look vulnerable to shifts anywhere on the field.

BP, it is a no brainer. Every team compresses their defence and slides. If people don’t realise this, they don’t watch other games. Tries by the outside backs scoring off overlaps are so commonplace. But the difference between the successful and not so successful defences is in the execution, and if you have minimal pace then you can be exposed even in the opposition half. This is where we get exposed more than other teams – long range tries or breaks.

Spot on. It is a given for us at the moment. However, I thought after the first ten-fifteen minutes we improved on that left edge. Still not great but better.

I know he cops a bit but I like Simonsson, he seems to put in every game and it was good to see him return to the field after doing a few yoga stretches that would test the best of them.

Bailey spoke to Forty and I at Kellyville last Wednesday. He was very confident that the team would bounce back. Perhaps we should have been more confident.

Thanks as always for the podcast fellas, I must say it was a great feeling after the last couple of weeks. I was quietly hopeful there would be a response from the playing group and that commitment was there for all to see!
A shame we didn’t scoop the pool with wins for the other Eels sides this weekend but they were really up against it with some top opposition on show..

Keep up the great work, the podcasts are top shelf!

Cheers Steve. The playing group really responded in that second half. You could see the self belief really kick in late in the first half and the second stanza was a return to composed footy.

Gutho’s level of excitement made me ponder whether he should be tested for dangerously high levels of caffeine.

You know what I love? I am not alone in this I am sure. I love a player that busts their gut 100% every time, leaving NOTHING in the tank. I love Ray Price, I love Nathan Hindmarsh, I love Clint Gutherson. I will cheer for the gritty determination of the player that will give all for their team, before I cheer for the brilliantly gifted natural, any day of the week. I love all those wonderfully talented players but nothing sums up the spirit of Rugby League better to me, than what Gutherson is made of

      2. John Eel

That is a good comparison. As a winger he does roam around a bit. It’s easy to see how people see him as a future FB.

BA said, in a question about the Lomax signing, the club is hoping to make an announcement in a couple of days.

The other thing that he said which did surprise me was that he will be playing Blaize off the bench against the Dolphins.
