Despite a tough weekend just past, it is now a huge week for the Parramatta Eels on multiple fronts. In the NRL it is Old Boys’ Day against the North Queensland Cowboys as the Eels look to get back on track. The Junior Representatives hit Leichardt Oval across Saturday and Sunday as their finals series finally gets underway with the Lisa Fiaola, Harold Matthews and SG Ball all looking to make moves.
Sixties and Forty20 are joined by Steve Georgallis as he helps preview all three games as well as providing some fascinating insight into the preparation and coaching processes that go into these finals matches.
The boys then launch into a monster series of previews from the Junior Reps right through to the NRL. How do the young prospects of the Gale, Matts and Ball punch a ticket to their respective grand final qualifiers? How do all three of the senior squads even their keels and get back on track?
I really enjoyed our chat with Steve Georgallis. He’s a straight shooter and we appreciated him sharing his coaching insights. I’m looking forward to how he approaches the NRLW head coaching gig.
I am a rugby league and Eels tragic but I’ll The the first to admit I’m not a student of the game. I always enjoy listening to how a rugby league mind works. Steve shares more than most, thanks to Steve and the boys for making this happen.
Joseph, we are so privileged for Steve to share his time. And for Nathan Brown and Joey Grima who were each in the role before. And on every occasion that we record these blokes have a bit of a chat before and after we record. Terrific insights and champion blokes.
I have a hunger for NRL and Eels news and chat mostly, admittedly I came in with lukewarm expectations of being drawn into the Joey Grima chat and came out wanting to hear more.
Clearly you boys have enough on your plates with all the content you already produce, you could have a successful and entertaining general rugby league show, you see the game from a fans perspective but also have solid knowledge and insight for the game. I often wonder how some former greats of the game can know so little about their own game.
My wife and I are fans of all the participants of this podcast, we love what Clint brings, he reminds us of Superman, we picture him in a suit and tie during the day and wears a Super Eel suit and cape when he’s on the podcast.
There is a story in the Saturday Telegraph regarding player options. The Eels have now taken over from the Broncos as the club with the most player options in their roster.
By the way Broncos now have zero PO. I have banged on about this problem for year’s and I am not going to bang on again boring every one to death.
The way it ties up a club’s ability to build their roster and be able to stay competitive and under the cap is a major problem.
The Eels need to get it right.
John, I wasn’t aware of that. I guess it’s true. Player options create uncertainty and put the power in the players hands without getting any real commitment. Appreciate you drawing attention to the article.
It is interesting that since the Broncos have distanced themselves from the practice they have turned their footballing fortunes around.
