The Tip Sheet – 2023 Ep 34: Can Eels Aim Up For Canberra Triple-Header?

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

Another tough match-up looms for the Parramatta Eels in Round 11 as they hit the road to take on the Canberra Raiders in all 3 grades. The Tip Sheet previews a gruelling Super Saturday as Sixties and Forty20 analyse the Flegg, Cup and NRL games against the Green Machine.

The Jersey Flegg are boosted by the inclusion of 5 SG Ball graduates headlined by Ethan Sanders, Richard Penisini and Saxon Pryke in the starting roster. How fast can the Flegg gel together with all the new inclusions?

In the NSW Cup the Eels are without the services of Jake Arthur this week and the boys look at how the team can cover his absence. It is awfully similar in the NRL where Jake’s inclusion leads to the question of how the Eels redistribute Mitchell Moses’ responsibilties.

The Raiders are running hot with a 4-game win streak to their name and they play a brand of footy that will trouble the Eels. Will the Blue & Gold find another gear this week and who can step up and deliver against a big Canberra pack?

Tks guys. I can see our forwards matching the Raiders and it will only take Lane’s form to improve and Hodgson/Hands to be used to best advantage to set a platform. The big proviso is decent completion/error stats and balanced officiating, I think it’s a big annual charity night for the Raiders, they’ll be fired up, just don’t want them to get too much momentum from freebies.

Their forwards are a bit old fashioned in my opinion BDon. They like to give a bit of mongrel in their work. It can be very effective.

    Great discussion guys.

Happy with Hopgood extension – a no brainer. The only problem I have is 2025 so many contracts due. That means next year all we’ll hear is …is coming off contract and start negotiations November 1…

Junior, Hodgson, Lane need to step up.

Simmonson played well against Raiders last time in Canberra.

It’s literally a must win. Rabbits next week, they are on fire and that could get ugly. If we don’t fix our defence.

Please wipe the smile of Ricky’s face.

    Go Eels!!

    Good stuff thanks gents.

I reckon it’s only a matter of games before Lane and Brown click and get in sync. I’m picking Lane best on field and to score a meat pie.

The footy gods owe us a win, and the Raiders a loss, so let’s hope that’s the way it pans out.

Cheers Mick, yeah we do need Lane to click, though it’s no coincidence that Brown’s game has started to improve.
