The Tip Sheet – 2022 Ep 52: TCT Nonstop News Network Unpacks Round 18 Chaos

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

Round 18 of the NRL saw some crazy results and crazier storylines develop. Naturally The Cumberland Throw Nonstop News Network is ready to break it all down. With award winning* heavyweight anchors Sixties and Forty20 joined by industry insider Spiro the most dynamite news and discussion panel in rugby league talk the Eels and NRL as the race to the finals heats up.

Spiro gives his final takes on the Origin series before the boys discuss the late game fades troubling Parramatta over the last fortnight. Some unique and downright bizarre happenings from the games featuring the Roosters, Knights and Tigers’ games are analysed before a brutal and pivotal injury to the Storm caps the Round 18 discussion.

The trio look at a story broken the previous night about Brad Arthur and what it really means before Spiro offers his insight into the Wests Tigers and their new look coaching set-up. Some breaking news on an ugly situation facing Mitchell Moses hopefully closes that chapter.

I’m finding that some comments re BA and his future have become irrationally emotional. That is not too say that there isn’t a place for a good discussion about the post BA Eels (The Lady Who Leagues twitter thread was quite good). For mine, his successor whether 2023 if the rumours are true or after need to build on his work as he has done a tremendous job when you remember what the club was like before he joined and even in those first few years with the salary cap scandal. I’m a little less sanguine about whether we are seeing some budding shoots of his rebuild but the Eels performance from now to the grand final will be the test. A grand final which I hope features RCG running over Cleary to score the match winning try.

I will say this about the BA rumour. IMHO it has come from the Bulldogs making enquiries to BA’s agent. When the answer came back as NO from the agent. The Bulldog leaked to his media mates that Bulldogs had been approached by the agent. As another failure to get a coach will reflect badly on the Bulldog. The Bulldog trying to save face at the same time trying to unsettle and de-rail Parra on their training camp.
We have enough issues without coaching unrest at this time of year.
Well done to BA for putting it to bed early.
    Go Eels
