The Tip Sheet – 2022 Ep 41: Dissecting Rep Round With Spiro & Talking Troublesome Transfers

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

There was nary a Parramatta game to watch last week but plenty of footy to dissect nonetheless. Forty20, Sixties and Spiro discuss it all with the spotlight shining on the NSW Blues, Papua New Guinea and Samoa in particular.

Spiro wades in on the latest at the Wests Tigers after Cameron Ciraldo declined their offer and also offers a bit of insider insight on which member of the coaching staff at the Bulldogs is making waves.

Sixties and Forty20 take their own look at the big win in Perth for the Blues and conclude that a bad process netted a fantastic result. The importance of the spine was made clearer than ever with New Zealand, Samoa and Papua New Guinea dominating their opposition courtesy of their playmakers and perhaps it could lead to a rebalancing of the powers that be in the international game.

Matt Lodge is signing with the Roosters and Sixties has plenty to say about it. The boys look at the troubling rumoured figures for his deal given what the Eels were reportedly told by the NRL when doing their due process around Lodge. The boys discuss the larger issue surrounding a mercenary culture and the idea of ring-chasing that is threatening to creep into the game before signing off.

The perfect coach for the Tigers is BA.
I think he would turn them around and in my opinion both BA and the club need to go our seperate ways sooner rather than later

    1. Luke winley

Hasnt Arthur outcoached Ivan Cleary Trent Robinson and Craig Bellamy this year.
Why would you want to let him go?it doesn’t make any sense!!
Must be a tiger supporter -come on admit it

What he would be perfect for the tigers and in my opinion he’s done a great job with us but we aren’t going to go any further with him.

Okay we get Spiro works with Flano and is his mate but the constant push for Flano to get a coaching gig from Spiro is getting tired.
Now we have Spiro is in the top 4 hit list for the tigers but Spiro can’t remember the others.
Well the favourite now is John Morris.
Then we have Flano is happy doing what he is doing and does not care if he is offered a coaching job.
This is after Spiro said a little while ago Flano was red hot favourite for the bulldogs job and Flano hit the media hard saying he wanted the job.
The facts are there is 3 basket case clubs that need a coach and Flano will not get any of them as his track record is just not worth the risk.
I also believe his commentary on fox as hurt him as he just does not come across well as a speaker.
Yes he won a premiership but so did Anthony Seabold
So glad we have stability with BA

Tony, Spiro is simply letting us know the latest word. As for our stability, I’m with you and I’m sure that there are many envious clubs. And by the way, I’m on record as being no apologist when it comes to Flanno.

I’m so glad Parra did not get Lodge. Not going to say anymore.

Player availability is so important to the growth of the game and the rep round is a great idea. I’d love to attend a Tonga test just for the atmosphere. I’m not sure on how it works currently (and it may do) I would relax eligibility rules so that if not selected for Australia, players can turn out for other countries if eligible.
