The Tip Sheet – 2022 Ep 24: Instant Reaction, Cowboys Roll Lacklustre Eels

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

The Eels were completely rolled by the North Queensland Cowboys in Darwin in Round 8. Out enthused and out executed, Parramatta quickly slipped off the pace in the torrid Northern Territory conditions and never looked a serious chance at knocking off the Cowboys.

Sixties and Forty20 try to break down a game where almost nothing went right and what the Eels can do to bounce back ahead of a brutal assignment against the reigning premiers.

I said after last weeks game that it was hard to gauge the level of the bounce back as the knights were so bad, well it seems it wasn’t much of a bounce back if any at all.
Just terrible yet again. Did Reed run or kick the ball once? I’m sick of Jnr passing the ball so often when he should be tucking it under his arm and running it. The same inability to convert field position and possession into points, while seemingly unable to defend an error and when they get behind there doesn’t seem to be anybody capable of dragging them back into the game. Another ambush, why should we be surprised. Mediocre at best and nowhere near being serious contenders. I’m so pissed off with another crap effort. Add + 37 to F&A last week, deduct 29 this week from a team below them, well at least before the game.

It was disappointing, very disappointing, but mostly because we didn’t seem to learn our lesson from the previous two weeks.

Gents, appreciate you doing this despite the obvious disappointment and not much to be said really. Looking for a positive, at least I was at home and didn’t catch COVID at the game unlike the last loss.

Cheers Shaun. It wasn’t much fun to do the pod, but if we only sought to record our takes after wins, we wouldn’t be very genuine. Here’s to much better against the Riff.

Tks gents. Disappointing. You wonder what would have happened if the Cowboys had had our field position advantage. And they seemed to have 15 on the park in defence, and we seem to have 11 when we get stripped for numbers.

Disappointing effort tonight, especially in the first half.
Oh well, on to Penrith next week, they’ll put 50+ on the boys if they play like they did in this game. Fingers crossed they’ll learn and improve for the next game but given how injury ravaged we are, I can’t see us toppling the Panthers unfortunately.

  5. EEL 86

Tim for Brad to go i say. He’s done nothing in a final series for 8 years bowing out early and only beating bum teams. We’ve had an easy draw that far struggling to beat the titans twice, losing to average teams in wests and cows, and only beating the struggling sides convincingly.
Picking Jake at 5/8 is an absolute joke , Brad should just resign as a failure of the club

hahahahahaha….unbelievable….Brad was responsible for the Eels having at least, AT LEAST, four tries bombed..Lane, Penisini, Simonsen, Perham….take those chances and you would be singing his praises. Cowboys just too good on the night…handled the conditions a lot better…Cop it, learn from it, moooooove on…..
