First Half

Eels with early territory and applying pressure. Dragons are holding strong in defence.

The Eels again get possession in good field position and launch an attack on their right. Lui delivers a pass off his hip to Fenning who crosses out wide. Conversion unsuccessful

Eels 4 nil with 22 remaining first half

Eels are winning the arm wrestle and forcing errors

Dragons get the ball in the Eels red zone and there appears to be a knock on. Ref doesn’t call it and the Dragons swoop on the loose ball and score.

Conversion misses

4 all 8 minutes to go first half

The Dragons are getting serious possession and momentum now. A penalty gets them downfield and when they hit the Eels red zone a bad jam from the Eels right opens up space out wide for the try. Conversion unsuccessful

Dragons 8 Eels 4

Half time

The Eels have wasted an early opportunity with a poor pass in the Dragons red zone. The Dragons now get a repeat set via another Eels error and are deep in Eels territory. A shift to the right cracks the Eels defence out wide and the Dragons extend their lead via a try to their centre. Converted

Dragons 14 Eels 4

29 minutes remaining

Everything falling Dragons way – every bounce and call and they are applying all the pressure. After multiple sets they run the ball down the blind side on the last and score. Try unconverted.

Dragons 18 Eels 4 23 to go

The Eels kick off goes out on the full and more pressure is being applied!

A turning of the tide perhaps? Brock Parker sparks a big set with a fast PTB. Lui jumps down the short side from it and offload back inside to Lenaz who immediately turns and finds Fenning! The captain is dragged down 10m out but earns a set restart. It doesn’t take them long to punch it in as Jack Colovatti slams it down!

Try scored by Jack Colovatti. Conversion successful by Corey Fenning.

Eels trail 10-18

Clean break from Chappell! He finds big Brock Parker in support but the bookend is dragged down agonisingly short of the line. Parra shift to their right where Fenning and Blackburn combine on a crash line but the Dragons hold firm. That brings up the last and a cross field bomb back to the left. Tuipulotu times his leap perfectly to claim the ball and score!

Try scored by Josh Tuipulotu. Conversion successful by Corey Fenning.

Eels trail 16-18

They fall short of the comeback sadly and will be left to rue a string of costly mistakes.

Our apologies for the brevity of this blog. The battery in Forty’s laptop was exhausted so I was dropping in updates from my phone, and then my phone battery went dead!
