The Tip Sheet – 2022 Ep 15: Round 4 Preview, Remembering & Celebrating Joe Briffa

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

00:00:26 – Introduction, Remembering & Celebrating Joe Briffa
00:07:25 – Behind The Mic With Spiro
00:35:56 – NRL News
00:52:31 – Previews

This week’s episode of The Tip Sheet is dedicated to the late, great Joe Briffa. Joe was a close friend of both Sixties and Forty20. A wonderful man and perhaps the single most dedicated and dyed-in-the-wool fan of the Parramatta Eels. His sudden passing following a battle with cancer is a loss to both the club and the family and community of The Cumberland Throw. Both Sixties and Forty20 share what Joe meant to them in an emotional start to the show.

The boys press on – Joe would not have it any other way – because there is plenty of news to talk about and games to preview. It all starts with Spiro as we go Behind The Mic. All the fallout from Parramatta’s stunning golden point victory over the Storm is discussed before Spiro throws some interesting mail onto the table.

Next up is the NRL News as Sixties and Forty20 break down the latest injury and signing news for the Blue & Gold. Last up are the previews as the Eels clash with the Dragons and Steelers right across the board. From Tarsha Gale to NRL it is an old fashioned gala weekend and the boys run their eyes across each and every match-up.

Our emotions were a bit raw at the commencement of this podcast, but we made the decision to not edit and to not hide how we were feeling..

Thanks Ken. Yeah, we are very keen regarding Marsters. I think you’ll find that Lumelume signed with the Dogs for this year (didn’t everybody?)

Thanks Pete. It was a bit of a challenge to record when we did, but as Forty said, Joe would have wanted us to get on with talking about Parra.

Thanks Shaun. I can’t begin to tell you how passionately Joe supported Parra. Because of that, and because we had a friendship that existed before we launched TCT, he supported us. That meant so much to us.
And yes, I’d like to see if we can get Marsters. As noted, Forty has long been a fan of his.
