  1. Mr controversy aka rev

I give up on what’s a shoulder charge n what’s not. Also the inconsistenty of the refs. Last week we saw proctor get 10 in the bin yet the players who flipped gutherson stays on the field n we only get a penalty.

There is no way young jakob Arthur is a 1st grade half back. Hardly notice he was out there n when he was i saw him miss a tackle n put 3 kicks up in the air. Surely we have a better back up halfback.

To think of it this is why we shoukd have kept salmon his 21 n a much better player then Jakob.

Rev, with respect to Jaeman, Jake will play many more NRL games than him. Also, did you miss the big play from Jake that Nathan Brown should have scored under the posts from?

  2. BDon

Tks guys, losing does suck. The Raiders worked hard for that win, no disputing that. Line speed and making sure you slow the ruck needs 80 minutes to be effective(and how the refs deal with it). I saw Ryan Sutton under the posts 2 mtrs offside before the ball was played about 8 mtrs out..ie Ryan’s playing his own rules.. Just for a laugh, did anyone notice Canberra get a 6Again when their own player pushed the ball player back down? And Forty, your instincts are right, another stat site had 53/47 possession.
What is the rule for a no-arms thigh/hip charge where he led with his knee? The knee got some doubt because he pushed it out one pace away and wasn’t the primary contact, but you can’t tell me it wasn’t there.

BDon, it was an illegal tackle, should have been a penalty try, but we wouldn’t have deserved the win.

I though Canberra deserved the win and I like the no excuses attitude of BA. The line speed of Canberra was amazing and I thought they were breaking early, though obviously this was ok because they were not penalised. Maybe less of the one out rucking would have helped break Canberra down a bit.

It also showed how important Moses is to the team as his direction was missed.

But a good game to watch and I’m sure the team will learn from it!

BA press conference was full of no excuses because the lemon is dry. His offensive game plan is under 10 stuff. The Eels, offensively are amongst the more boring, predictable teams in the last 5 years. You may tough out a win against the lesser teams but this one out stuff in the modern game is rediculous and easily coached against.

Fathead, should the Eels win the important games coming up I hope that you are as capable of praising them as you are of criticising. The opportunities were created, but the team beat themselves with critical errors and far too many missed tackles.

I will give praise where it is due. I always do. I’m just being honest and my view is shared by many, including many commentators and players. I think you are being too kind, it would have been a travesty had the Eels prevailed. They were beaten all over the park.

Ben, without question, the Eels miss what Mitch brings and he’s now an Origin player. Take an Origin half out of a team and they are nowhere near as effective – see the Panthers against the Broncos.

The disallowed try of Sivo. Penalty try for certain. First contact was Rapana’s shoulder on the body of Sivo.

Arms tucked in with no attempt to tackle with the arms

A foot lower and Sivo cops a knee to the head,a foot higher its a shoulder charge. The intent was definitely there and it was very reckless.
I get that Raiders played well, their defense was awesome but if Brown holds on or Sivo is rightly awarded a PT we win, still no praise from the media for our efforts to match another top 8 team at thier very best.We will be fine with Moses back. All the people bagging Jake in his 5th FG game against a team defending like that, are clueless,he had some fine touches and never stopped trying.Shame about that tackle on a bloke 40kg heavier but there really needed to be 2 in that tackle at least.

It shouldn’t have come down to the last minute…but that tackle..If we did that to a Raiders player Ricky would be blowing up deluxe!! Gus Gould would be calling for a multiweek suspension….
Rapana didn’t use his arms in the tackle. He sunk his hip into Sivo and almost killed him with the force of the collision…If that tackle is legal then someone is going to be severely injured.
Raiders played well especially Rapana they just wanted it more.
Other teams know if they bully us we don’t like it and we struggle.
I think we just lack a bit of hardness…
I’m still confident we can learn from this game.

The end doesn’t justify the means. I hear commentators say what else is he (defender) meant to do or it is the attacker for not wanting to win as much as the defender.

The fact is there are rules around tackling. If you can’t defend in accordance with the rules you can’t defend against the try being scored.

It also does not matter if you score the winning try 20 minutes out from the end of the game or 20 seconds out from the end of the game. If you score it you deserve to win.

It is an 80 minute game.

With the Marata Niukore injury will this make the Eels more likely to chase Woods for the balance of the 2021 season?
