It rained cats, buckets and just about everything else in Round 13 as the Parramatta Eels and Cronulla Sharks waged aquatic war at Kogarah. Eventually the Eels emerged, or perhaps submerged, as the alpha underwater lifeform with a 14-12 victory that keeps the intense race for the minor premiership in a three-way shootout.

The two Browns, Dylan and Nathan, starred for the Eels and Sixties and Forty20 dive into how they made the decisive difference on Sunday. The boys take a focus to the back-to-basics approach deployed by the team in the hard-fought victory and why this might finally represent the ‘get right’ game that fans have been waiting for.

Parramatta’s ability to consistently finish stronger than their opponents is no accident so in this week’s training report, Sixties shines the spotlight on the terrific work done by Trent Elkin to keep the squad in top condition despite the challenges of COVID-19.

Finally the boys cast their eyes ahead to the Round 14 fixture against the St George Illawarra Dragons. With the Eels expecting Ryan Matterson to make his return from concussion protocol the question gets asked – who misses out to make way for him?

Love it fellas. It sounds like 60’s is special guest for the show, as in calling in. Well done. Its very professional – great to tune in.
Do you feel as though Parra’s defence out wide will be a concern later in the season – semis? I feel as though this is something we have seen last season as well.

      Cheers Milo.
I think it’s a defensive issue faced by multiple teams as well as Parra. It definitely stands out for us because we don’t leak too many points elsewhere.

BA gave a lot of credit to Junior for making the call on the scrum push. This came as a surprise to me. Personally if I had been asked to guess, I would have said Gutho. Having said that I am not surprised, Junior is not your average Prop. He is a skilful player who reads the game well

One team who may be susceptible to this tactic would be the Storm. They hold the ball in the scrum more than any other team

It was good to see Dylan and Laney
respond to recent criticism of their form and come up with vastly improved performances.

How good was the “Show and Go” by Dylan for the try. You can almost forgive the defenders for falling for the rude.

I have mentioned here before about how well the team are able to play out the game. I can’t remember an Eels team that seems this fit. Further to that apart from the game around the time of Manly (touch wood) the team has been relatively injury free for most of the season

I also agree with your comments about the training during the Covid break. The players were obviously managed well and responded tremendously

Sixties really got into the podcast this week.

on Mary there is some talk they are leaving him there till the end of the season. If he is not getting full say in team selections that is his goose cooked right there

Thanks John. The review/discussion pod is in its embryonic phase. We hope to return to our interviews when possible too.
Junior is a smart cookie, and it’s interesting that a few more journos have followed on from my feature piece from early July.
Mary? I think they’ve made his job near impossible.
