Harold Matthews
First Half
Parramatta have made an impressive start to the season in the Harold Matthews after racing out to a 34-0 lead at half-time against the Central Coast Centurions. As you would expect with such a score line, the Eels have had standouts all over the park but Kyle Schneider and Wellington Seve are probably the best on field at this stage. One point of concern for the young Eels though is the loss of left-centre William Kei who departed the field late in the first half due to a non-contact knee injury – usually a bad sign. Kei had scored two tries in the first half prior to his injury.
Second Half
The Eels have gone on with the job today after running out 54-6 winners over the home team. The Centurions rallied valiantly after half-time but Parramatta were far too disciplined too give them any sort of look in. Outstanding start to the season for the Harold Matthews.
SG Ball
First Half
The Eels flew out of the blocks to post first points via an amazing backline movement that saw Tui Afualo put Haze Dunster into space. Dunster then kicked back in field where speedy five-eighth, Alex Seve recovered to score. The Eels then looked to pile on the pressure as they got back to the redzone shortly after but the Centurions engineered a twelve point turnaround when their #2 plucked out of the air that was en route to Dunster and raced the length of the field to score. The sudden swing in momentum rocked the Eels onto the backfoot and the Centurions took full advantage as they raced out to a 16-6 lead. Parramatta eventually regained their composure and the lead itself as they went into half-time leading the Centurions 20-16. Haze Dunster has been excellent on the right flank for the Eels while Josh Carr has also impressed in the first stanza.
Second Half
Discipline from both teams dropped off in the second half as the testing conditions took their toll on everyone. Cramping was rife across both teams but the Eels weathered the er, weather, better than the home team to run out 40-28 victors. A second-half double to barnstorming centre Tui Afualo was definitely the highlight of the half. Plenty to improve on for our SG Ball squad though. A few defensive lapses proved costly while handling errors crept into their game to give the Centurions far too many sniffs. Regardless, a win is a win and the Eels will head home happy with the two points!

Good report 40/20. It took me till end of matts game to work out where you were. I can confirm it was very warm there at Wyong. Kei had his bandaged and coaching staff said he’d be ok for next week if he treats the knee well over the next 48 hours. Good start for the team. I also heard Penrith and Balmain drew 18 all.
Great commentary, can’t wait for next week, hopefully at home so I can attend. Inspiring stuff Forty 20.
