Team List Tuesday – Younguns Moving On Up Edition

NRL Team List

Round 19 vs Sydney Roosters, Saturday 7:35PM, Allianz Stadium

There is a fair bit happening on this particular Team List Tuesday and it does include the NRL – although to a more minor degree. Araz Nanva returns to first grade for this third cap after Sean Russell picked up a relatively high grade quadriceps strain (Round 23). It gives the young centre a significant window to impress Jason Ryles over the next month (albeit with a bye next week) ahead of the 2026/27 preseason.

Mitchell Moses has been named to back up from Origin III but of course that is always subject to what happens on Wednesday. Jonah Pezet is part of the extended squad as cover with Ronald Volkman favoured to start at five-eighth against the Roosters.

Sam Tuivaiti has been named to start as he begins to consolidate his grip on the role while Tallyn Da Silva continues to be named as the starting dummy-half…although there is now some credence to the TLT happening after Da Silva did indeed open against the Sea Eagles!

The Eels will also be without Luca Moretti for several games. Luca was a late withdrawal from the Round 19 triumph over Manly and it has been confirmed today that he is undergoing concussion protocols with an initial return date of Round 21.

On the other side of the ledger the Roosters have named most of their Origin stars to back up although Sam Walker is entirely absent from the team sheet is on the extended bench (per an updated sheet I have since seen) while Reece Robson is sequestered in the extended squad. Saturday night is a major milestone game for the Tri-colours with Daniel Tupou notching up game 300 in the NRL so expect the home team to be plenty motivated.

NRLW Team List

Round 2 vs St George Illawarra Dragons, Sunday 1:45PM, WIN Stadium

Injury opened the door for a young player in the NRL but it is a suspension that does something similar in the NRLW. Boss Kapua will miss a couple of games for a careless tackle late in the loss to the Tigers in Round 1 so in comes rookie Khyliah Gray to make her debut. Gray joins the interchange bench to put an exclamation mark on an incredible individual season for her after leading the Eels to glory in the Tarsha Gale Cup earlier in 2026.

Give ’em hell Khyliah!

In terms of directly replacing Kapua in the starting team – that responsibility falls upon another  young talent with Ryvvr-Lee Alo tasked to alongside Elsie Albert against the Dragons.

Steve Georgallis is persisting with the double utility bench into Round 2 and while I remain skeptical that it is the best configuration for the Eels there are far more pressing areas for Parramatta to attend to across the park after a disastrous first half against the Tigers.

NSW Cup Team List

Round 19 vs Sydney Roosters, Sunday 2:45PM, Wentworth Park Stadium

Lincoln Fletcher played just 40-minutes of footy against the Sea Eagles in the Jersey Flegg last week as the young halfback starred in a dazzling display in his return from injury. When he didn’t return in the second half I was understandably concerned about a recurrence of the hamstring injury that had sidelined him for a massive portion of the season.

Thankfully it appears that Fletcher was simply pulled from the game on either a minutes restriction or to preserve him for next week and an eventual NSW Cup debut. It is a significant milestone for the young half as he reunites with his long term halves partner in Lorenzo Talataina.

The Eels toweled up the struggling Sea Eagles in a strong all-round showing from the Blue & Gold on Sunday as they successfully built on a highly competitive loss to the Knights the week prior. Can they now make it three positive outings in a row?

Agree with the skepticism around Georgallis’ bench. Unless Tohi Hiku is carrying an injury, I see no reason why she had to come off just for Beckett to play 4 minutes and give up an error. Tohi hiku was one of our only attacking sparks too.
Fortunately the dragons have gone with the dual utility too with both Shipton and Hopkins, but in future would much prefer either Todhunter or Beckett not both, and Tufuga on the bench while Joseph recovers.

Super excited for Khyliah Gray! She’ll be a long term player and hopefully a long term eel!

Believe Jordan Miller was put on report for a late hit agst manly. Doesn’t have the best disciplinary record, so would expect a suspension is the cause of missing this game.Problem is that the NSWRL hasn’t provided details of disciplinary action for a long while, so guessing is the result.
