The NRLW kicks off this week and the Parramatta Eels are hosting the Wests Tigers on Sunday at CommBank Stadium. In spite of some unfortunate injuries to their new recruits, the Blue & Gold are still fielding an exciting line-up as Sixties and Forty20 rip into a massive season opener. There are previews across the board with five grades in action on Sunday.
The show smashes through a triple header at Kellyville with the Flegg and Cup taking on the Sea Eagles while the Women’s Premiership tackle the Tigers. The Flegg have made sweeping changes in the backline and have been further bolstered by the returns on Lincoln Fletcher and Jordan Miller. Is that enough to reignite their season?
In the NRL the Eels are reeling from a bitterly disappointing loss to the Rabbitohs and now find themselves with their backs against the wall with Manly closing in. Can Parramatta somehow challenge the red hot Sea Eagles?

First up: Couple of comments. I can verify Andy Raymond is a solid bloke. Worked with him for a few years and as On-Air talent goes, he was as humble and respectful as they come. Was interested in anyone and everyone’s opinion, not just the ex-players.
The short kickoffs. Agree too! I don’t understand why teams try to make dropouts land on the 10m line, when if you miss a metre short, it’s instantly not your ball. Kick it 15! If you’re a metre long or a metre short, you can still get their on the fly!
To Sunday. It’s hard to believe the Manly team on paper (who started so poorly) are in the top 8. So how do we see this one going?
Well last week had to be rock bottom right? … Riiight?! So surely we bounce back.
It could be cold and breezy, maybe even slippery. That can’t be good for Turno’s hammy’s.
No Luke Brooks… But they may be stronger with Walsh?
For me the biggest worry? Who is the leader for Parra. Who revs the boys with his words or actions? Are we relying on JAC out on a wing? That’s not good.
Who is guiding the team around the park? We rely on a long kicking game to overcome our lack of metre making. How do we overcome that?
The only way I see Parra winning is Manly being off their game and Pezet playing like he did in that Broncos game earlier in the year. Maybe being the halfback will suit him better than some of his other performances. It’s hope more than logic based. But I don’t think it is an impossible chance.
To me this feels like a narrow ugly win, or a 10-36 point drubbing.
