First Half

Parramatta waste little time getting onto the front foot as Rylee Cash storms over from the scrum win that was a result of an error from the kick off. Rapid start!

Try scored by Rylee Cash. Conversion successful by Charlie Noble.

We settle into a bit of a battle now as both teams trade repeated sets. The Eels steadily win the battle for territory though and press their advantage further when Charlie Noble combines with Armanhi Cook around the posts to see the latter storm over for the second try of the day,

The Eels are rolling now as they work downfield in the sets after points. Clinical ball movement down their right edge sees Rylee Cash and Tegan Nicholas combining before the the fullback lofts a lovely cutout pass to Ruby Enosi Tuipulotu as the powerful winger cuts back off her right foot to brush pass the cover defence and crash over out wide.

Try scored by Ruby Enosi Tuipulotu. Conversion unsuccessful by Charlie Noble.

Eels lead 16-0

Taylah Meahger sets the platform for Parra’s next scoring burst with a thunderous carry through the middle. Parramatta’s spine whir into gear from there as Cash, Manuo and Nicholas all link up to find Georgia Wansey down the left edge where the Eels’ centre has far too much time and space as she darts over in the corner.

Try scored by Georgia Wansey. Conversion unsuccessful by Charlie Noble.

Eels lead 20-0

Holy moley! I can’t keep up. A monstrous kickoff return from Kaveinga O’Callaghan-Ahio gives way to a stunning linebreak from Zara Khouri down the right edge short side! No one is going to catch her! The long striding backrower will clock in for a 65m runaway try! Sensational individual efforts stacked together from the two forwards there!

Try scored by Zara Khouri. Conversion unsuccessful by Charlie Noble.

Eels lead 24-0

The assault continues now as Zhra Toutai eviserates the ruck defence of the Sea Eagles with a barnstorming carry. She isn’t done either as she offloads to Kaveinga O’Callaghan-Ahio! Manly defenders pour in to try and stop the powerful prop forward by Kaveinga has too much momentum and goes over to the right of the posts!

Try scored by Kaveinga O’Callaghan-Ahio. Conversion successful by Charlie Noble.

Eels lead 30-0

One more before half time! So much of the damage has been done by the right edge today but Tegan Nicholas sorties down the left on this occasion as Parramatta’s fullback pulls the trigger on a perfect cutout pass to Havana Cook and the winger duly obliges with a perfect finish in the corner! The Eels put a cap on a stunning first half where they outpaced the clock!

Try scored by Havana Cook. Conversion unsuccessful by Charlie Noble.

Half Time

Parramatta Eels 34 lead the Manly Sea Eagles 0

Second Half

The Eels win a penalty in their first possession of the second half and unsurprisingly look to attack with a tap restart. They work the ball to the posts for two plays befofre seemingly going unstuck with an awry pass to the left. However, Sienna Manuo quickly salvages the play as she swoops on the loose ball and dances past multiple defenders before finding Wansey who quickly releases Cook for her second of the game!

Try scored Havana Cook. Conversion unsuccessful by Charlie Noble.

Eels lead 38-0

Two nearly becomes three in the blink of an eye for Cook but she is cut down with less than a metre to go from the kickoff set. Georgia Wansey tries to crash over from dummy half on the last but Manly show some resolution and win the ball back on tackles.

The reprieve is short lived for the Sea Eagles though as they quickly turn the ball back over. Rylee Cash emulates her opening effort of the game as she takes the ball from the scrum win and attacks the line. She has options lined up to her right and Manly over-commit that way as she throw a dummy and glides through to bad her second.

Try scored by Rylee Cash. Conversion successful by Charlie Noble.

Eels lead 44-0

Parra defend the short kick off from the Sea Eagles as they get stuck into the task at hand. Nice combination play from Cash and Nicholas around the ruck as they test the ruck defence of the Sea Eagles. Manuo goes on to win a line drop out from a deflected grubber kick that sees Georgia Wansey I believe lay down the boomstick on a poor Sea Eagle on the dead ball line. Great kick chase and shot there.

Chelsea Falls has the Eels immediately kicking down the door from the restart with a big carry and the Parramatta waste little time as they spin it left. Manuo takes a run that side first before Noble and Nicholas work the short side and once again the fullback shows the class of her passing repertoire as she hits Havana Cook in stride down the sideline to secure the hat trick for her flanker.

Try scored by Havana Cook. Conversion unsuccessful by Charlie Noble.

Eels lead 48-0

44min gone

Now it is Noble ripping them to shreds with an explosive run out of dummy half! She peels off 30m easily there and it sets it all up for the Eels wherever they want! And tell me if you have heard of this one before? Teagan Nicholas finds Havana Cook down the left sideline yet again! Play it again Teagan indeed! Cook expertly navigates the sideline and the cover defence to put her name on the board for the 4th time today.

Try scored by Havana Cook. Conversion unsuccessful by Charlie Noble.

Eels lead 52-0

48min gone

How about the work between Armanhi Cook and Chelsea Falls there? Just pure class as the forwards execute the rugby equivalent of the 1-2 in soccer with an interchange of passes around the ruck that splits the Sea Eagles wide open. Cook to Falls and then Falls to Cook. Just lovely footy. Manly manage to prevent the pair from scoring but they are reeling and Sienna Manuo seizes on the opportunity as she knifes over down the left edge.

Try scored by Sienna Manuo. Conversion successful by Charlie Noble.

Eels lead 58-0

Another short kickoff from the Sea Eagles. This one is cleverly executed as the kicker grubbers for herself. She lines it up perfectly and does everything right but secure the ball as the referee spots a small knock-on. The Eels produce a rare error in reply as they look to attack from centrefield down their left edge but get the pass to Nicholas wrong. It gives Manly a rare taste of possession and an even rarer taste of possession inside Parra’s half.

Unsurprisingly, the Eels are able to fend off the Sea Eagles as they get the ball back on tackle.

Parramatta hunt in pods the in next set. Armanhi Cook and Tegan Nicholas do in the initial damage as Cook gets in behind the ruck and then offloads to a flying Nicholas for the initial explosive play. From there Rylee Cash presses the advantage with a calm and collected run that allows her to find a shock ruck candidate in Havana Cook. Cash feeds her winger the ball and Havana weaves between defenders to score her 5th of the day!

Try scored by Havana Cook. Conversion successful by Charlie Noble.

Eels lead 64-0

56min gone

Watch out! Taylah Meahger is rumbling downfield! The powerful bookend just can’t be stopped as she plows over defenders for a massive 30m+ gain. Manly are firmly on their haunches now and the Eels switch things up with a raid down their right edge that sees Marlie-Jay Paranihi-Tagoai brush past her opposite to score out wide.

Try scored by Marlie-Jay Paranihi-Tagoai. Conversion unsuccessful by Charlie Noble.

Eels lead 68-0

58min gone

The Eels let a chance to cross into the 70s quite literally slip through their fingers as they get the final pass down their left edge wrong. However, they are still able to secure a phenomenal shutout victory as the siren rings out and Marlie-Jay Paranihi-Tagoai falls on the desperation grubber from the Sea Eagles.

First Half

Great start for the Eels as they field the kickoff a win a late penalty coming over halfway. Tap and go for the Blue & Gold as they thunder into the Manly redzone care of Taylah Falaniko. That sets up the big right edge shift as Patikura Jim finds Sharon Latapu who then rips a gorgeous cutout pass to Irae Savea on the sweep. From there the fullback hands it off to Jayda Cook who plants it down in the corner.

Try scored by Jayda Cook. Conversion unsuccessful by Alissia Misa.

Eels lead 4-0

Now a chance for the visitors as the Eels cough the ball up from the restart. They set a scrum in centrefield and play to their left where Parra meet them. Manly playing short and tight around the ruck here and eventually exploit the markers getting too lateral on the goal line as they burrow over from dummy half. That error proving costly.

Try scored by the Sea Eagles. Conversion unsuccessful.

Manly lock the scores up at 4-all

6min gone

Good set from Manly following points but Savea seizes momentum for the Eels with a strong return and offload to Vatubua down the left edge. Sharp work. Back infield now for Parra as they assault the ruck and the forwards momentum allows Latapu to attack down the right from there. She pins her ears right at a gaggle of retreating defenders and powers over to put Parramatta back in the lead.

Try scored by Sharon Latapu. Conversion unsuccessful by Alissia Misa.

Eels lead 8-4

9min gone

Lafoga and Falaniko take early runs this set before the Eels venture left with Aloalii to delve deep into Manly’s half. A swarming kick chase pays off the bomb from Patikura Jim as the entire right edge of the Eels converge on the Manly winger and drive her back in-goals! Terrific set.

Another charge for Falaniko as she drags defenders with her in a strong effort. It is all set up for the Eels to the left but they get their timings wrong and drop the ball. That is a let off right there.

What a run from Lafoga down the right sideline! She does incredibly well to fend of numerous defenders and stay in the field of play all the while threatening and threatening to score. She falls just short but it remains a cracking run nonetheless. Alas, the Eels come undone looking to transition the ball to another attacking corridor as the long clearing pass is dropped for the turnover.

Manly are putting up a solid fight here and won’t do down without asking some questions as they continue to try and attack the Eels with second phase play. This time it goes awry though as they lose the ball trying to offload on halfway. Parramatta immediately begin the counter attack and win a penalty inside Manly’s half but again come undone on the long clearing pass. They just aren’t quite getting it right there and it is keeping Manly in the hunt.

End to end stuff now. First Manly knock on the door at Parra’s goal line but again Irae Savea disarms the threat with clever positioning and a strong return as the Eels spiral that into a line drop out in their favour. It is the right edge with a strong kick chase forcing the issue once again.

This time the Eels are able to convert the pressure into points as they catch Manly a player short in a right edge raid. Simple hands suffice for the Blue & Gold as the ball works its way fully out to the sideline where Sualo Lafoga dives over!

Try scored by Sualo Lafoga. Conversion successful by Alissia Misa.

Eels lead 14-4

23min gone

The Eels go 90m in the set after points as they dominate the middle. Bailey Ma-Chong spies a chance to attack on the last as she hares out of dummy-half but a great tackle prevents her from linking up with support to her left.

An error near halfway from the visitors gifts the Eels another chance and it turns out they only need the one play! Sharon Latapu is very much in rhythm here as she slices through the front line defence from the scrum win and finds herself with no one near here as she streaks away to score from 45m out!

Try scored by Sharon Latapu. Conversion successful by Bailey Ma-Chong.

Eels lead 20-4

27min gone

Olivia Saba steams in from the kick off. Leonia Vei goes next but her offload to Billie Va’a in support drops at the ankles of her backrower and is knocked on. Like the intent but the execution is just off.

Can Manly narrow the deficit before the break? They start by attacking down their right. Simple stuff though and it doesn’t ask too much of the Eels in defence. Saba and Vei swarm on the switch back to the ruck and combine for a strong shot as the Sea Eagles go to the air on last where Vatubua makes a clean take under pressure. Good hands.

Aloalii is unlucky not to win a penalty for her work around the ruck but the Eels keep rolling as Va’a fields an offload and makes a half break down the right. Vei centres the ball to bring up the last as Latapu goes to the air with the siren ringing out. Manly make a meal of the contest on their goal line and Olivia Saba is richly rewarded for both her strong stint and being in the right place at the right time as she seizes on the loose ball and dives over!

Try scored by Olivia Saba. Conversion unsuccessful by Bailey Ma-Chong.

Half Time

Parramatta Eels 24 lead the Manly Sea Eagles 4

Second Half

Eels kicking off.

Terrific aggression in defence! Aloalii leading the way there with a bonerattler! Savea takes advantage of the dominant defence with another strong kick return. Vei and Saba work in tandem before Mitszy Cairns threatens down the left edge. Latapu runs it on the last and steps back off her right foot but the defence are awake to the danger and cut her down.

Manly very nearly throw it away on their goal line on the very next play but barely outpace the Eels in scrambling to pick up the loose ball. They fail to complete that set either way though as they turn it over 30m off their line but the Eels are equally quick to hand it back as we hit a bit of a rut in the flow of the game.

Now some lovely work from Sammy-Lee Gunn-Tauai. She combines with Savea down the right to open up the Sea Eagles before the fullback finds Aloalii to her left. Manly stop her short of the line but they are reeling. Ma-Chong zips out of dummy-half and brings Saba with her as she posts up her prop forward in a one-on-one under the posts and Olivia does the rest!

Try scored by Olivia Saba. Conversion successful by Bailey Ma-Chong.

Eels lead 30-4

37min gone

Manly hit back after a good sequence from their #14 Katie Andrews. She finds some seams to attack around the ruck to help put the Sea Eagles in the attacking quarter and eventually is able to cross when she catches the Eels retreating to the right of the posts.

Try scored by the Sea Eagles. Conversion successful.

Manly trail 10-30

42min gone

Look out! We have a delay in the game after an injury time out but when we return to play with a scrum feed for the Eels – Billie Va’a roars to life! The backrower goes 60m through some flimsy defence to score under the posts! Great solo effort!

Try scored by Billie Va’a. Conversion successful by Bailey Ma-Chong.

Eels lead 36-10

47min gone

The Eels are rolling now. Their bigs are dominating the ruck and it is opening channels for the spine to attack. Bailey Ma-Chong is the primary coordinator here as she scoots out of dummy half on the last and puts fellow rake Alissia Misa through a yawning gap! Misa storms past the fullback to score to the right of the posts!

Try scored by Alissia Misa. Conversion successful by Bailey Ma-Chong.

Eels lead 42-10

50min gone

I can barely keep up! The Eels use sharp hands to release Jayda Cook down the right edge short side and she weaves and winds her way through the defence to score in a similar fashion to Va’a earlier. What a cracking carry as she scores from long range!

Try scored by Jayda Cook. Conversion successful by Bailey Ma-Chong.

Eels lead 48-10

52min gone

Ma-Chong is fully in her element here. She is scheming and plotting around the ruck as she runs it and feeds the ball to Irae Savea who carves through the retreating defence and goes on to score another long range try for the Eels. Manly fought hard for a good chunk of this game but the Eels are really separating themselves from their opponents now.

Try scored by Irae Savea. Conversion successful by Bailey Ma-Chong.

Eels lead 54-10

54min gone

A strong charge from Vatubua from the kickoff has the Eels in prime field position as Va’a and Gunn-Tauai nearly capitalise with dangerous carries down the right edge in the wake of the establishing carry. The Eels look to catch the Sea Eagles out with a late offload but it hits the deck and breaks to the defence as Manly get a rare reprieve.

The Eels win a penalty and it allows Misa to tap and go as she rips a chunk of free metres away. Manly are on the canvas here and just about anyone could line up for the potential score and it just so happens to be the most powerful presence on the park as Taylah Falaniko smashes her way over for a simple try.

Try scored by Taylah Falaniko. Conversion successful by Bailey Ma-Chong.

Eels lead 60-10

59min gone

Falaniko isn’t done here! She bursts through the kickoff defence and rumbles all the way down to halfway! Tremendous run! From there though both the Eels and Sea Eagles turn the ball over in rapid succession as the siren rings out to bring an end to a dominant showing from the Blue & Gold!

Glad you enjoyed it Susan! Our girls are rounding into some terrific form at the right time of the season.

I’ll bet that was a fun watch! (unless you’re a Manly fan, but then you get what you deserve)

The only problem with matches like these is it’s near impossible to keep up when you’re blogging. Fortunately John can actually touch type.

The girls gave me a real run for my money yesterday. We have covered plenty of blow outs for the Eels (mostly for, sometimes against) in the Junior Reps but I don’t think I have ever covered a cumulative 128-10 scoreboard across two games!
