The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

Summer has arrived and so has the…cool weather? An unseasonably cool turn has not prevented the Parramatta Eels from heating up at Kellyville as The Tip Sheet explores the latest from the 2025/26 preseason. Sixties and Forty20 discuss who is building their cases in front of Jason Ryles and the coaching staff as preseason training gets proper serious. In spite of the cool start to Summer, the heat is coming later this week, can the rookies keep impressing as the mercury rises?
The Wests Tigers continue to Wests Tiger as a fresh wave of board room beefing unfolds this week while Shane Richardson is reportedly close to resigning. More signing news in the NRL as the Bears land Toby Sexton while the Roosters prepare for life after Mark Nawaqanitawase with the acquisition of Reuben Garrick while they also lock up their young stare centre Robert Toia long term. The Cowboys make a murmur in the player market as they pick up Matthew Lodge while NAS has apparently elected to take up professional boxing.
All this and more in another episode of The Tip Sheet!

I think Forties dog could become a regular. Obviously has a different point of view 😂
I feel like Joash could go on to be one of the best eels in the next few years and Pezet only coming for one season will help take pressure off Joash and give him extra time to develop.
I understand everyone’s wanting big signings etc, I would like that too..
But we must also respect how good our team especially of younger players progressed in 2025.
I believe Jason Ryles is trying to build & develop a team rather than just buy a team, as 60’s said we are in a batter position then before last season.
With so many younger players being older and gaining experience this year it should offset the loss of Lomax to an extend, and to be fair…
Adding Pezet into our side probably adds more value than Lomax did. Pezets kicking will take pressure off Moses. It will add diversification to our kicking and attack now and Pezet will know Ryles systems and be able to execute it considering he was a Storm half for years and Jason’s obviously using a lot of similar systems.
I think the reason Ryles has to ‘develope’ a squad is because our recruitment team is so incompetent.
Our outside backs are so thin.
Our forwards rely heavily on Junior and Walker who are aging and the only signings we have are the eldest player in the NRL and a cameo by Pezet.
I think has done a great job changing our structures but you can only do so much with the cattle you have.
I predict 10-14 finish with the current squad.
Muz we have absolutely nothing coming through in the centre /wing position that resembles NRL quality.
I like their enthusiasm but Russell, Simonson and Penisini will NOT be part of a NRL winning side.
We have struck Gold with JAC but he won’t be around forever.
It seems that every other club have a raft of young tyros banging the door down in the backline positions and apparently we are so desperate that we are thinking about offering Tago another top 30 position !!!!!
We just have to recruit outside the club.
I think the forwards hold themselves pretty well but I just can’t work out how the club is so relaxed about our present backline stocks.
We get a couple of injuries in the backline and we are toast.
As I said, I’d be moving heaven and hell to get Sloan. He’s 23. Already massively experienced and is night and day ahead of anything we have.
Agreed – we kid ourselves and overrate the players we do have. Penisini, Simmonsson and Russell are not, together, a top 8 backline. One of them is fine but all three together are a below average backline group. In addition, our junior centres/wingers lack top end speed and agility so I’m not that high on them either. Bulldogs, Penrith, Brisbane, Gold Coast, etc all have a wealth of young backline prospects that could be targeted in addition to someone like Sloan. Time is ticking despite the spin that “parra are calm about the situation”
And I see the Storm, not content to sit on their asses, have been very active in the market, whilst we are looking for 80k. broken down hacks who would rather be anywhere else than with us.
Big club mentality.
