NRL Team List
Round 14, Monday 4:00PM, Accor Stadium
The Parramatta Eels copped the Penrith Panthers amidst a miraculous rekindling of their premiership powers and narrowly went down as a result last week in a mega quality match. It was a gut-wrenching loss no doubt but has that set them up for a serious tilt at the table-topping Canterbury Bulldogs?
One way or another we get a fascinating look at exactly how much the team as grown as they face monstrous back-to-back match-ups.
Jason Ryles has made the most straight forward of changes this week as Will Penisini returns to right centre after clearing concussion protocols. He pushes Jordan Samrani to the interchange bench and Joash Papalii back to NSW Cup as a result. Otherwise the Eels are sticking to the formula that has seen them grow and grow in the last five or six weeks.
Of course there is every chance that we see the Jack Williams, Kelma Tuilagi and Luca Moretti reshuffle ahead of kickoff that has become a pregame feature for the team but Ryles clearly likes what he has in this configuration.
The Bulldogs enter the King’s Birthday clash fresh off a bye and interestingly have avoided making some of the changes that were rumoured in recent times. Toby Sexton and Reed Mahoney both retain their places in the spine despite conjecture they would be dropped.
Lachlan Galvin, the young playmaker who recently opted for the Bulldogs over the Eels, is not present in the First XVII but has cheekily claimed the final place on their team sheet. Given he had the luxury of the bye week as well as this week’s preparation to integrate into the team I would hazard a guess there is a very good chance he ends up taking the field on Monday.
With a bye week looming the week after, the Eels have the chance to go hell-for-leather here and really get after one of the form teams of the competition.

NSW Cup Team List
Round 14, Sunday 3:00PM, Kellyville Park
Joash Papalii has been bumped back to this grade merely by virtue of a surplus of talent in the NRL. He takes over at fullback from Apa Twidle while Joey Lussick and Brendan Hands continue to rotate at dummy half. I suspect that Wiremu Greig and Toni Matale picked up suspensions on the weekend thus paving the way for Brock Parker and Matt Doorey to take over as starting bookends. Bryce Cartwright is the big winner here as he gets a chance to start on the right edge while Will Latu and Charlie Guymer hold it down at left edge and lock respectively.
Saxon Pryke holds his berth in reserve grade and he is joined on the bench by Kayne Kalache and Max Tupou – whom it is good to see return to this grade after an injury layoff.

Wasn’t sure if it was gonna happen but a little surprised to see both kelma and Jordan in the team together, if ryles does what he’s been doing recently it means we’d be carrying a lock, middle and then 2 edge players that have both been playing right edge on the bench, wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the route he goes and we see kitione get a spell on the left edge, also wouldn’t be surprised if kelma drops out of the 17 and doorey comes onto the bench given samranis versatility either way excited to see how we play.
Up the eels!
Strange that Twidle is missing from Cup, but also not selected in Flegg, watched the last Cup game and didn’t appear to leave the field injured.
See if he makes an appearance without being named .
Strange aye
What’s happened to Haze Duster. No where to be seen.
x2 been asking for a while. Bloke is in good form but cannot string 2 games together.
Is on a break like Shaun Lane contemplating his future.
I doubt we will see Haze again.
That Hip drop has ruined a promising career.
Ok thankyou no announcement
Such a shame for Dunster if true he was actually starting to look good this year. He was quite a talent early on just lacked the elite pace of a winger. But any chance of gaining that was taken away with the horrific injury.
