The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!
We don’t even know where to begin with this week’s news podcast and exactly how Sixties and Forty20 and going to contain their yapping as The Tip Sheet tries to unravel a genuinely insane start to the week.
Mitchell Moses returns for the Eels (as does Jack Williams) while Jason Ryles takes a hatchet to his forward pack in a wild Team List Tuesday. It was a tough week for the Junior Reps with only the Tarsha Gale prevailing but 3 teams remain in the title hunt. The boys review the weekend results and where the Eels stand across the board heading into the Easter long weekend.
The NRL was rocked by news that Lachlan Galvin will not sign a new deal with the Wests Tigers and the joint-venture went scorched earth in reply. Was the response warranted? What happens to Galvin now?
Paul Kent reckons he’s been told from strong sources that Galvin to Parra is ‘all but done’ but obviously nothing can be said until November 1. Here’s to hoping Paul Kent is a reliable source haha
I was just watching that segment Adrian. Very interesting stuff no doubt.
He didn’t sound at all convincing. There is no way he could have agreed to terms yet. If you read between the lines of what Kent was and wasn’t saying, he has a vendetta against Isaac Moses and he’s been around long enough to know any mention of Parramatta will be good for viewership.
I’d take this with a grain of salt.
He also isn’t accountable for his reporting in the same way he was once as a paid employee of various major news organisations.
The table of knowledge at the Sackville would know.
I reckon he will replace DCE.
Yes I wonder what all the Ryles haters will say if Galvin signs with us.
Where are the Ryles haters ???
Oh they’re around chief!
I’m not convinced he’s as good a fit as everyone seems to think. He’s not my first choice to replace Dylan Brown. He just happens the most available
I’m the same as he lack physicality and is so tall for a half but who would we prefer? Is there a junior eel that could be better like talataina? Do we sign Galvin and risk losing the junior halves?
More questions than answers at the moment
I be said this a couple of weeks ago, we should go all in and try and get Jack Welsby from St Helens, failing that talk to the Raiders about getting Ethan Sanfers back. Both would be better fits imo.
The sanders thing is so silly. How we didn’t have him sign one year deal as insurance if brown left is beyond me. He was never gonna play for raiders this year so surely they could convince him to sign 1 year.
I think he thought he was going to play for the Raiders this year. Like Gus, Sticky can spin a fine tale.
I see Canberra now has offered Fogarty 2 year deal and want him to stay. Can’t imagine sanders is stoked about that…
Sorry Brett, I believe you really wrong about Galvin. Without a doubt he is the perfect fit for Parra. He has good vision and looks to set up his outside man. I don’t think he is worth a million but he is worth chasing. At the same age as Dy Bags was I think he is better.
He is far better than Dylan at same age because Galvin is a legit play maker and organiser not just a running half more or less. Galvin stats are I believe above Luai’s this season, and Jerome is a near walk up start to play origin besides Cleary & Moses, and Galvin is only 19.
Is he even a half though ? I’m just far from convinced.
Brett, interesting about Welsby. I was telling my son all last year we should make a play for him. Then I thought he signed a long term deal last year with the Saints.
I also thought he was more of a centre/fullback because we were talking about Welsby replacing Gutho at the time. Am I right or mistaken?
He did resign long term for St Helens, but that doesn’t mean much in England. It would take a hefty transfer fee to pry him loose. He has essentially played FB for Saints and England, but 5/8 is his future I believe. He’s a big body, a left footer, a tough defender and a serial winner. 3 SL titles, 3 Challenge Cups. It probably won’t happen, I’m not sure he really wants to move to Australia, but he’s a perfect fit for Mitch.
The spice extends life. The spice expands consciousness. The spice is vital to space travel.
The nsw cup forward pack is just a shake your head moment because they all deserve to be there. I’d be prepared to put a red pen through all of them if it was possible for 2026. We really need to go to market for a gun back rower externally. I don’t think kelma has really earnt the spot back it’s just we couldn’t pick lane again he was beyond awful in Darwin.
I thought Matto was solid in Darwin. So why dropped? Someting else at play?
Maybe defensively played 33 minutes and managed 2 runs is pretty atrocious.
If I were a betting man, I’d put money on Galvin playing in Blue And Gold in 2026 – it sounds like the last thing Galvin wants to do is to ever play for the Tigers again. I’d agree with Sixties and Forty20 that the online rubbish from those Tigers players is absolutely appalling. Very bitchy and unnecessary and let’s face it, designed to get the Tigers fans go bananas feral against the kid
I agree I think it is pathetic from Luai and Turuva – who just left their development club for money to throw the kid who is getting bad advice, under the bus. If they were real leaders and team mates, they would put an arm around him and get behind him with some advice.
Actually, the only one in the media reporting their problem with bullying is Sydney Morning Herald, through Peter Fitzsimon. He is not my favourite ” journalist” but he calls out the hypocrisy and bullying from Luai etc. Good on him
Two others I dislike called it out aswell: Gus Gould and brandy Alexander. So looks like the competition for Galvin is parra, dogs, Penrith
Galvin obviously has potential, but do the Eels really want another key position player under Isaac Moses? Isn’t the definition of insanity to keep doing the same thing and expect different results? How many times do we have to let Moses burn the club? I mean Moses owns MON so he can probably draw up his own contract for a player, but I don’t know. Maybe you have to make a stand at some point and maybe MON needs to know his limits and deal with agents he can negotiate with.
Any updates on Sam Tuivati and Toni Matale signings longer we hear no news more I fear they are leaving. Also how is Ryley Smith on a development contract?
How bad is the ridiculous pandering to the Wests Tigers regarding the decision.
Yes, I understand everyone hates Issac Moses but he’s a professional, just doing his job.
Wests Tigers seems to forget a few important things. –
1. He has asked for a release MULTIPLE times and been denied. If that doesn’t give you a clue that he doesn’t want to be there, then you need to clean your ears out!
2. He said that he was happy to play out the rest of his contract in good faith.
3. The Wests Tigers bought this to a head when they presented the contract to him and were told in good faith that no amount of money will do, he wants to go to market for 2027. He also wanted to be honest to the Tigers to give them plenty of time to plan ahead.
4. The West Tigers then act all indignant – how dare he not extend with us, look at the what we have done for him, look at the money etc etc.. and then take the contract off the table and drop him to reserve grade in a massive dummy spit.
5. At the same time there is a player revolt against a 19 year old kid with stupid slogans like ‘team first’ and the like knowing that most would dump the Tigers in a heartbeat if the Roosters came along with a decent offer.
6. St George were faced with a similar situation. Zac Lomax was a saints junior and they finally got him to a point where he was a representative player and he bails for the Eels for less money.
The Saints, although massively disappointed, didn’t drop him to reserve grade and just carried on as a professional unit.
Shane Richardson has been around but this isn’t his finest hour.
Sometimes players just want to move.
Lachie has been very very upfront in telling everyone that he would give his right nut to play for the Eels but never imagined that it would happen with Brown entrenched at the club.
Now that opportunity has presented itself.
It’s not about the money, the money will take care of itself.
I’ve never met Lachie or his family but I’m pretty close to mates who have and they have constantly told me that to play for the Eels is all that Lachie has ever wanted to do and that desire still burns bright.
Unfortunately, for both the Eels and Galvin, Richardson with the support of the media will play hard ball and for a contract of 350k , he will just stick Galvin in reserve grade and let him rot.
It will only be when that media opinion turns and Richardson decides that he has punished Galvin enough, that will he relent.
I understand Shane Richardson’s stance but it’s a hollow one. Like a hot air balloon, looks flashy and rises fast but will collapse fast depending on the weather conditions.
The Tigers will have to tread carefully to maintain this narrative but I think at the end of the day perhaps once all the hot air blows over and the next scandal hits the airwaves, cooler heads may prevail.
Lachie Galvin was always destined to be an Eel.
If the Eels offer a decent contract then that’s where he will end up.
Well put – it’s appalling how tigers have handled it. Their players have every right to back their coach and club but it’s a very juvenile response to do that via social media jabs.
I hope parra are ready for the game of footy – they will need to rise to the occasion cause tigers will no doubt be fired up.
100% Spark well summarised.
It just shows Galvin made right decision to move away from that toxic club.
All this focus on mental health and the club comes down hard on him for being honest.
This is a red flag for all players that are thinking about joining Tigers.
Yeah the media essentially piled on a teenager and supported senior players bullying a kid.
If this was at parramatta the media and co would be saying how toxic and much of a basket case we are at the eels
We, the supporters, did turn on Dylan Brown. But the coach and his team mates didn’t.
It’s an interesting one this Galvin topic.
Is him asking for a release in his first year in the club who have him a shot a red flag regarding his character and possible selfishness?
So first year he wants out then second year is taking in dotted notes complaining to the CEO he won’t develop under Benji, and also apparently complaining he doesn’t get enough say on the attack strategy or things like that behind Laui.
I’m with you the tigers look a bit silly and what not. But the fact players have turned on him shows they don’t like him, apparently he is very selfish and immature. He talks badly about his coaches, club, and isn’t liked by the senior players by the looks of it.
We can’t just be blue & gold goggles here, Galvin is an obvious talent and great player who we would all love to see play at parramatta.
But should we be taking his character, potential selfishness, and immaturity into consideration before trying to sign him?
It rarely ends well when a player has a bad attitude or rubs team mates to the wrong way regardless of how talented they are.
My personal hope is Galvin and Moses are only pulling these stunts to get out of the tigers because he wants the big bucks sooner, and to obviously leave that club, and hopefully Galvin settles down once on a good contract, etc.
It’s a good replacement for brown and would see our attack transform if we were able to get him. Just hope the kids ego and immaturity isn’t a problem that follows him to parra if he was to end up coming over to us. Mitch moses is the top dog over here at parra and Galvin would need to step in line and not go cry to the CEO if the coach and captain are not giving him enough control of the teams game plans.
For the record:
I hope he comes back to parra. Just hopefully with a good attitude if the reports coming out of tigers is true.
Muz, he is just a kid. Someone once said children. Children! Children don’t know what they want, only that they want.
Muz, he is 19. Moses did the same thing. Brown just did it to us. He is a talent, and he is a happy player on the field and doesn’t stop trying. We know what we want and it is Galvin.
Getting Galvin on board is going to be tough, especially considering this very site created a piece last year advising against dealing with his manager. As I mentioned before, that was one of the most emotional and poorly thought-out knee-jerk reactions we saw in 2024.
Luckily, our club isn’t dumb enough to listen seeing this is the same manager who quietly locked down our best player without any fuss.
The club has been making the right calls for the last decade. We do not pay overs. We do not crumble to the pressure of player agents.
Everyone we sign meets our needs. Our junior development is one of the best in the competition. Some of you fans have no patience. Are you a real fan?
It might surprise you but in Aussie slang ” Gronk” translates as being a total moron
If the club had been making the right calls for the last 10 years we would not be coming last 😅
Yep I have to agree with this if we don’t do business with Moses he could screw us with his power over our juniors coming through.
Eels SG Ball squad Bailey Nouredine Bayley Cox Blake Martin David Langi Desi Raukete Drew Lloyd Francis Tuitino Freeman Forsythe Jabriel Kalache Jaylan De Groot Jock Brazel Josh Chappell Josh Leifi Junior Wright Keanu Wright-Dunrobin Keylan Bray Koevy Lemeusu Kylan Mafoa Larry Muagututia Marli J Townsend Max Tupou Nicholas Lenaz Spencer Tuala Taylor Mauala Vlado Jankovic

Interesting lists from when Galvin was in Harold Matt’s some names doing things a lot not much
With Galvin – 360 Gronks are saying why Parra? And yes we are going through a rebuild and it would be a tough sell. But if he wants to develop as a 6 there’s only 2 clubs that need a 6
1. Parra – develop with Mitch
2. Panthers – develop with Cleary
Bulldogs – Gus courting him but they have Burton and would need Galvin to play 7? And Bulldogs need to dump sexton.
Manly – Seibold same manager. Brookes is a 6 he’s not a 7. They need a genuine 7
Dragons – Flanagan Jnr is a 6 not a 7 he’s not getting developed there
Sharks – Have Hynes and Trindall.
East’s – won’t deal with Moses
Interstate clubs – No
Now unless Galvin wants to play 7 which has not been reported. Those clubs might change and Manly and Bulldogs would be an option. But i doubt he wants to play 7.
So that leaves Parra or Panthers. Now will Moses
put Galvin in the club where he just put Blaize? I
doubt it.
Anyway we wait and see
Gus is doing absolutely everything to grab Galvin for the Bulldogs.
He has positioned himself as a mentor, a kind grandfather / uncle type of person who can assist him make the right decisions.
Hopefully Lachlan and his father are wise to what is going on with Gus.
Gus is already trying to offload Sexton.
I would say to Lachie that it’s all well and good having ‘kind uncle Gus’ on speed dial but be assured if Galvin decides his future lies elsewhere than the Bulldogs, the platitudes like ‘ the greatest player the world has seen’ will disappear completely.
Likewise any access to the prince of ‘i only want to help’ will evaporate like a fart in the wind!
It’s just what Gus is like. Ask the large number of people in the industry who have been cut off when Gus has no longer use for them.
Notwithstanding this, even if he went to the Bulldogs, the bullying that the Tigers have allowed to occur against a 19 year old is deplorable.
Those social media posts and the sacrificial way they paraded him in front of his teammates just wouldn’t be allowed at professional clubs.
The tigers have a long way to go.
Agree Spark Uncle Gus is laying it on thick! Gus is always happiest when his opponents are imploding around him. He uses his status in the game to throw grenades without retribution.
I have never liked Benji and the West Tigers have always been a toxic organisation. The players at Tigers have just proven how bad the place is.
Pete the 360 guys always seem to have an agenda.
They say Gus has and how bad he is, but the 360 folk always have agendas and biases which they apply different rules and practices as acceptable depending on the club or player.
If parramatta was doing this treatment to blaize talagi when he was with us, and gutho or moses was IG posting about him, NRL 360 headlines would have been how toxic and horrible parramatta eels were.
They also do not like parramatta, if he was agitating to join the roosters or bulldogs Braith and co would be saying how wrong Galvin is being treated and they should release him so he could join easts for example.
This is why you can’t take these guys seriously, they are agenda driven, click bait chasing drama queens who lick the boots of successful clubs and pick and choose whatever narrative fits them or their player manager friends best interests.
So true Muz!
Anasta did say on show Moses and Galvin would work best together Brooks and Galvin not so and not sure why Bulldogs would want him Galvin was told when he was younger he was too small so West Tigers gave him a chance but his Heart has always been with Parramatta Eels
To be fair lucky Lyn Anasta has held back punches a little on parra because he is mates or knows Ryles. He is right tho the best combo for Galvin is Moses.
For some reason I forgot Souths.
Bennett would be a good coach for Galvin. They have Humphreys and Walker. Not sure if Walker keeps playing and if latrell kills it in 6…
Interesting, yeah south’s might look into it too. Walker ageing and Bennet is good at enticing good players to join his teams.
Tks gents, good discussion. Tigers have dug a hole for themselves. It’s very hard to keep anything in-house these days, but this just seems amateur and vengeful. Then they dive into the sewer of social media, where you’re free to express yourself at the same time as demonstrating poor judgement and logic.
Thanks fellas, finally finished listening to this and really enjoyed.
Really just confirms what we all know – all media organisations/presenters have a barrow to push. I hate the snide remarks between them all. News Corp chaps bag “Danny boy” Weidler, Weidler bags News Corp journos in his Sunday column. People, please just report the story, “just the facts ma’am “!
Player managers still have too much power/influence. How to fix I have no idea.
Players playing it out on social media – such a Gen Z thing that an old gent such as myself struggles to comprehend. Once this would have been sorted in the sheds (differently to how is meant to have happened this time) and then every one got on with winning the comp.
In the end I’m so disappointed that we are talking about where someone wants to play in 2027 when we are less than two months into the 2025 season. The NRL has a lot of work to do to change how things are.
The Galvin to parra seems all to coincidental with what transpired with brown this year. I’m not for one second saying that any approach was made to Galvin by a club official but someone must of got wind that Lachie had a desire to be back at parra. Parramatta stayed very staunch on there offer to brown and was not prepared to pay any more money to him knowing that if he didn’t except they still had a very handy possible replacement ready take his spot in the future. It’s all speculation but now finding out that Mitch Moses and Galvin are quite friendly I think there is more to the story.
Gus Gould is definately playing at something his been very vocal on his opinion of Galvin but I just don’t really get how he fits into the dogs. His a 5/8 everyday of the week and they have burton who right now in his career is probably ahead of Galvin.
Great shows gents, thanks.
Gould uses his media profile to feed his ego and to benefit for himself. His desire to make the Bulldogs successful is again about him, not the club, not the fans but to feed his humongous ego.
He wants Galvin, make no mistake, he’s already known to stockpile players and dispose of the excess when it suits him.
I hope the Galvin family understands that Gould is not a father figure, he’s not a mentor and the people he wants in his life are those he can benefit from. That’s just how narcissists operate. Gould is closer to Putin than he is to Bennett as a person.
I’m proud of how our club and our players treated teammates who signed with other clubs. Blaize was supported and left in first grade and Brown has been shown the same respect. Our actions show potential new signings and their managers that we are not arseholes and consider the wellbeing of it’s players.
I wanted to see the club drop both players, that’s the emotional unhinged side of me, the side I use to make good decisions knows the club handled the situation professionally.
The Tigers would be the last club in the world I’d want my son or daughter to play for. Good luck with Lui as your halfback, I can’t think of more annoying player to watch. He looks like a headless chook running aimlessly running around in circles, he has the composure of Poodle pup. Galvin can do better than to waste his career wondering what Lui will do next.
According to Code sports – Joe O is off to UK super league immediately and won’t play again for Eels.
As per the news that Joe O is leaving, is it mischievous to suggest that Parra is starting to clear out the cap for a new acquisition from the Tigers NSW Cup team?
Yes,
Amone was released from Bulldogs to perhaps clear space for Leo Thompson?
Which could then allow Knights some room for an early signing from…..?
Is Joe the first domino to fall? Intriguing times ahead.
We also just pulled out of signing Dragons Lyhkan King-Togia. He will now stay at Dragons – moves afoot ?
