The Tip Sheet – 2024 Ep 36: Sanders To Debut Against Sea Eagles

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

Ethan Sanders has been named to debut against the Manly Sea Eagles on Friday as The Tip Sheet covers the looming debut of the talented playmaker. Sixties, Forty20 and Clint discuss how the young prospect has been travelling in the NSW Cup and what lies ahead for him – both this week and beyond.

The Round 7 of the NRL features more complaining from the Roosters, a wild fracas in the tunnels between the Dogs and Knights and Zac Lomax continuing to shine.

There are all sorts of happenings in the Shire following the immediate retirement of Dale Finucane due to concussions. The boys reflect on his career and the toughness he brought to the Dogs, Storm and Sharks. On the other hand we have Braydon Trindall who now faces charges of driving under the influence of both alcohol and cocaine.

Where will Josh Schuster land? With Manly reportedly nearing a severance package worth approximately a million dollars with the mercurial player, his future now becomes a fascinating watch point across the code.

I respect your effort fellas. Tough to turn up each week but unlike our team, you lot do that and more. Everyone will be watching Friday like they watched JD’s south’s against sharks. It’s over to the players to let their actions do the talking. They must support Ethan and protect him. Any “leader” worth their salt will ensure (through more than mere words) that Ethan doesn’t feel like he has to do something he doesn’t ordinarily do. Do the basic and make your tackles. Let the others do their job.

Aside from this week, hopefully the club is going to change some things and address how it has got in this position. The last thing we need is more bandaids and excuses from the current lot. They sure trade in it.

Cheers Ron. I’ve made the decision to focus my energies this week in being supportive towards a young player’s debut. There’s even plenty of noise around that. For mine, it’s simple. As a supporter, on match days I will always support both the team and all of the players who wear the jersey. I don’t understand booing or not wanting the team or individuals to do well. That doesn’t mean that I won’t be critical of the club. It’s a matter of being selective at when I do so.

Gee 60’s I thought the role of Eels fans was that you were supposed to be critical all the time, even when the Eels win!! I’ve seen a few comments elsewhere with one bloke hoping they lose by 80 if it means getting rid of BA and in another comment he said he doesn’t care who replaces him, just anyone will do. I mean, seriously, can someone really be that negative, ignorant and stupid at the same time!!!

I think we all know that rhetoric is unhelpful. But to dismiss their
frustration is also an error. Many fans are very frustrated and express it in different ways. But as 60s says, when we are playing we ought to put that aside and support the boys. That’s how I approach it. I want them to remind themselves that things are never as bad as they seem and can be helped massively by them putting in effort week to week. That’s the only way out of this. Not merely counting days down for Moses return.

Stubbyholder, take that with a grain of salt I reckon….that’s frustration boiling over and something being typed when emotional. I doubt any Eels fans would death-ride their own team just to see the coach sacked. GO THE EELS

Good for you 60’s, your dedication is honourable however I think we will get absolutely smashed on Friday and I don’t think it’s the right time for a young man to debut. I truly hope I’m wrong.

    Appreciate the podcast guys.

I hope for a bounce back. But we cannot rely on this as a long term winning strategy.

Need to use the Lomax signature as a lure to attract other Signings!! Taruva would be first on that list.

If we think we just sign one player and just pat ourselves on the back thinking the job is done. We are seriously mistaken. This is the apathy of the football department.

If they cannot get the players we clearly need. Resign!! And let someone else do the job!

Tks men. I thought Manly were bog ordinary last week, against bog ordinary opposition. They won, there was no tanking but didn’t look like a team on their game.
Maybe an opportunity for a hit-back, but have to play for 80.

Good advice fellas. No point dragging a square wheeled cart any further than we need to.
Hoping Ethan has a debut to remember.
