The Tip Sheet – 2024 Ep 11: Preseason Wrap Up

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

Forty20 and Clint close the book on the 2024 preseason following Parramatta’s triumphant journey to Ipswich on the weekend. The boys debrief one last time on the preseason and how the Eels shape up ahead of Round 1 against the Bulldogs.

The Junior Reps were on the road again – this time in Wollongong – as they split the board against the Steelers. Wins for the Harold Matthews and Lisa Fiaola were balanced by losses for the Tarsha Gale and SG Ball. Parra news is rounded out by the board election results and the fallout from Maika Sivo’s 3-game suspension.

While the NRL may be heading to Vegas this week there is plenty of news at home. Starting with the World Club Challenge and the finals results from the Preseason Challenge Cup through to the ill-advised actions of Luciano Leilua – The Tip Sheet has it all covered this week.

The show wraps up with an extended look at the state of the game in America and England before previewing the Round 0 games at Allegiant Stadium.

Been signed for 25, negotiations happening for 24.
Blaize Talagi appears to be in the Top 30 so maybe he is being considered.
Big ask for him to play wing.

I’m surprised to hear that considering we have too many forwards and presumably would be keen to take this opportunity to free up another roster spot and sign an outside back.

Sorry mate, I haven’t caught training this week and even if I had, I doubt the club would be happy with me releasing likely team selections with knowledge.

I haven’t done an exhaustive analysis but the generally three teams drop out from the eight from the previous season. As we know injuries, suspensions and unexpected form collapses mean a team favoured for the top eight may not make it. And that is not including those teams that fluked their way into the top eight that can’t back it up the next season.

The Raiders, the Knights and the Sharks may not make it this year. But I’m more interested to see if The Storm and The Roosters will still continue to challenge. Both teams are not what they were but they continue to be in the mix. But I do agree that it will be a close comp with 11-12 teams capable of making the eight. Gonna be a fun season.
