The Tip Sheet – 2024 Ep 9: Steve Georgallis Talks Junior Reps, Plus Eels Ipswich-ing Gears As They Rev Up For Round One

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

Sixties and Forty20 are joined by Steve Georgallis in this week’s preview podcast as the Coaching Director of the Club’s Elite Pathways and the Eel’s NRLW coach debriefs the show on how the junior representatives have started 2024 as well as how the NRLW is shaping up.

The show then pivots to North of the border where the Eels travel to Ipswich to take on the Titans in the final preseason trial. Brad Arthur has named a full strength line-up that delivers some clarity on who is leading across a number of positional battles. The boys share what they are looking for from the team on Sunday and who can still cause shake-ups ahead of Round 1.

Illawarra awaits for all of the Junior Representatives this weekend. The Steelers are undefeated in three grades and will push the Eels in all four games on Saturday. The boys break down each contest, what Parrmatta need to do and how this weekend can shape the season as we begin to tip over the halfway point in the Junior Representatives.

Thanks again for the podcast. Really enjoyed it, feels like the season is underway again.

Enjoyed the interview with Steve. He seems fully onboard. Nice start to the season for Matts and Ball. Looking forward to see how they finish. Would be nice to repeat last year’s superb effort.

Just on last weeks trial. I really think that Wiremu had a good game. He played really tough and aggressive.

It probably wouldn’t happen round 1 but at some stage I would like to see Woody start the game and Junior start off the bench. I like the way that worked out against the Panthers.

That rumour about Bennett. That didn’t start from our favourite attention seeking shock jock?

Cheers John. I’ve got no idea where the rumour came from. I only found out when someone phoned me to tell me about it.
I agree about Woody’s form last week. He was a challenge for the Raiders to bring down.
As for Steve, he is very experienced and knowledgeable and we are obviously happy that he is going to appear on our podcast during the reps season.

Agree on Wiremu JE. Ran and tackled hard, looked 4 or 5 kgs lighter, it’s probably fitness for his defensive duties that the coaching team has worked on. It’d be great if he could develop that focus, urgency and clout of Warea-Hargreaves, he’s got the ingredients. I also thought Moretti’s energy game was starting to show but he got concussed and lost his chance to dance.

      Hi John
Agree abt Woody starting like the Penrith game.
I reckon old Snake Bennett started the rumour – he’s a wirely fox 🦊 and nothing would surprise. He wouldn’t come to Sydney- he could be good for the right team.

BDon agree with your thoughts. The very question I asked myself while watching the game. Is this our JWH emerging here.

There is also a lot to like about Moretti for similar reasons. This is potentially the best depth of forwards we have had in a long time.

Liked the chat fellas with Steve. It was a good listen in the car.
Can I ask that maybe we ask him or in future what he actually does specifically on pathways with the players ? I’m intrigued to know more here as in if he does one on one work ? Video? Skills? And what qualities Parra looks for when recruiting Etc. just a thought.
For me the trial this week is abt getting game time; defence being good and complete with the ball.
I’m glad we’re playing the Tits as they always use the ball and give us a good game attacking wise.

Based on what Joey and Nathan did, I would imagine that there is video work with the players as well as getting out on the training track with them and the coaches. It would be a fine line in such a position. Not wanting to step on coaches toes, but also helping to develop the skills of the coaches.
