The Tip Sheet – 2023 Ep 69: Sixties Asks Some Hard Questions

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

Team List Tuesday brings sweeping changes to Parramatta’s NRL team. The Tip Sheet analyses how it impacts the make up of the team and what to expect from the Eels on Sunday because of it.

That is the precursor to a heavy discussion as Sixties follows up on an article he wrote on Monday focusing on Parramatta’s issues with roster building in 2023. It sparked a frenzied discourse on TCT and now comes to The Tip Sheet as Sixties, Forty20 and Clint look at one of the limiting factors for the Eels this year.

The NRL news is a grab bag of good news and outright craziness. From Cam McInnes setting an insane NRL era tackle record to Billy Slater’s bizarre defence of Melbourne celebrating their stripped 2007 and 2009 premierships. The podcast finishes on a bright note as Post Try July closes after raising $400,000 for Daniel Anderson and Nathan Stapleton and surpassing over a million dollars in life time charity.

Hands absolutely needs a rest. The last four weeks we have been destroyed down the middle and behind the ruck. He is the future without a doubt but he needs a rest.

A rest may be the right move for him after heavy workloads. Will he get a rest in NSW Cup?Opponents threw a lot at the edge of the ruck to exploit Asi and the left side. Slow big men didn’t help, Hopgood and Hands were making near 90 tackles between them.

When you have a large fishing boat with a large outboard motor sitting on the back in your garage that you know you didn’t pay for. You need to be aware that something significantly wrong is occurring

Like most Queensland players and commentators Smith and Slater fail to read the room when talking about themselves and Queensland.

Slater in particular has disappointed me with his insane defence of the indefensible. Up until now I thought he was a pretty smart bloke, but seems not the case.

John, i heard the boat was big enough to fit Jaws in….Its the arrogance of it all that baffles me. I doubt the boat would have fitted through The Entrance bridge.. 🙂

The entitled BS regarding the Storm…a bit of empathy with followers other teams wouldn’t go astray. I thought Billy Slater was above that rubbish
