The Tip Sheet – 2022 Ep 68: Big Mouths, Blowouts & Beautiful Saturday Afternoon Footy

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

If you like outrageous scoring and blowout victories then Round 23 was right up your alley. A string of wild score lines was matched by some equally wild happenings and Sixties, Forty20 and Spiro are back with another episode of The Tip Sheet to break it all down.

Spiro is actually up for a gong after making quite the splash as a rookie and the boys celebrate his big year in the media. After that it is all footy as James Tamou comes under some serious heat for his big verbal with referee Ben Cummins. Tamou unloaded on Cummins at the tailend of a monstrous blowout against the Roosters and the trio discuss the incident and what the right punishment is.

Obstructions and blowouts were the two other major storylines from the round. Once again we are left to ponder what is and what isn’t an obstruction as the interpretation varies from game to game. A bewildered panel tries to make sense of it all, somewhat unsuccessfully.

Big final tallies dominated the box scores in Round 23 after a season of mostly competitive footy. How did it happen and why now? What did the results mean for the race to Top 8? South Sydney and the Brisbane Broncos are suddenly vulnerable as the Canberra Raiders re-enter the race for finals footy.

Lastly we look at a wonderful Saturday of Parramatta footy. Tough losses in the NSW Cup and NRLW were offset by a sparkling NRL victory and a brilliant players reunion.
