While the actual names of these incredibly coveted gongs (he says with his tongue firmly in cheek) is very much a work-in-progress, Sixties and Forty20 are proud to present their inaugural edition of TCT’s Season Awards. From Harold Matthews to the NRL and everything in-between the boys recap how each of the six season campaigns fared and who were the standouts in each team.
Player Of The Year, Best Back, Best Forward and the Sixties’ Spotlight Award for the player to watch are up for grabs. Both Forty20 and Sixties picked their winners without any knowledge of each other’s selections with the sole caveat that any given player can only take out a single award even if they played across multiple grades.

I have filed away all the Sixties Spotlight award names for future reference.
Need to see what sort of talent scouts you two are. It is good to get the round out on what is happening at our club.
Without a doubt the quality coming through the junior program is what will make our club a success.
Cheers John. It will be interesting to look back because the pathway system is like a funnel that gets narrower the further you progress. So many talented youngsters don’t have NRL careers and it’s a fine line between those who do and those who dont.
So Myles Martin and Lance Tovio have signed with rival clubs continuing a trend of good players leaving the Parra systems. Junior development, pathways and coaching from Matts to Flegg have been asleep at the wheel for way to long now..
Brad Arthur is Parramatta’s NRL coach and Lancelot Tovio is off to play with Souths. Now what chance there’s a Guinevere involved in all this?
Too clever.
It’s never ideal to lose talented players from your pathways. There are various reasons why a young player might change their pathway clubs, and you can’t jump to criticism without knowing why. The club wouldn’t have wanted to lose Martin.
Great analysis as always. Always good to hear about the talent coming through, from the perspective of people who see more than the average person.
Just one quick question. You talked up Charbel Tasipale in the preseason as most improved. Obviously he can’t win any of these awards because he was up and down through the grades. But do you see him part of the plans moving forward?
Cheers
I definitely do, but injury and movement between a Flegg team that wasn’t performing and the NSW Cup team didn’t give him the continuity that I certainly wanted to see. Yeah, I rate him. Look out for Elie El Zakhem who has come from the clouds as a backrower this last season
How old is Jock Brazel. Looks older in the photo than I expected?
I believe he is 18. Would be SG Ball eligible in 2022 I believe but will do a Flegg preseason.
