The Tip Sheet – 2020 Season Review feat. Bernie Gurr

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

It is time to close to books on the 2020 season for the Parramatta Eels with a season review. Once again Sixties and Forty20 call upon a good friend of The Tip Sheet in Bernie Gurr to perform the review and the duo have a list of burning questions for Parramatta’s former head-honcho.

In an all-encompassing talk, Bernie breaks down the quirky 2020 season which saw the Eels finish 3rd. The development of the team and their coach and their potential for growth is discussed which all leads neatly into the selection of a quartet of Eels for NSW in the upcoming State Of Origin series.

The trio close out the show by putting a focus on how Parramatta can take the next step from perennial finalist to big-time premiership contender and what the recruitment priorities need to be in order to achieve that goal.

Another great listen guys. Great to hear the insights from Bernini. I feel a bit nervous guys as I feel we have a great starting team that I honestly feel will improve, however the 11 players we need to replace are ones that many of them probably needed to move on. But I am worried that there are not a lot of decent players on the market. I’m sure the coaches would have thier eyes on some or even are in talks with some. Should we be looking at some new assistant’s and if so, who would you suggest?

When it comes to assistants, that should always be the coach’s choice. Look at the dramas faced by McGregor at the Dragons with his situation. I’m looking forward to next year with our current coaches as I believe that the talented Ryan Carr, who was only appointed at the end of last year, will bring even more to the table

Excellent review with Bernie Gurr. What a smart operator. Definitely helps with providing some hope for 2021 and the recovery process after last week. A great outline of the positives, what a list!
And the incremental growth story with a focus on mental strength, roster churn and junior development makes a heap sense. Great stuff guys.

I just saw that. Good luck to him as he had a good season this year. What about the rumours of Hayne and French being in talks with us as well. Do you know anything about this Sixties?

The French rumour is getting plenty of air time – only heard about it today and it makes sense. Hayne? That’s news to me!

    Hey guys
Great job as always. What is Bernie up to these days and was he always going to do a 3 yr stint with the club?
    Loved listening to the bern.

I believe that Bernie is enjoying a bit of a break this year, but I reckon he’d be a quality addition to any club in the NRL.

Wow, what a great chat with Bernie. The insights from a former insider on the squad in particular and the 11 leaving this year, make me more calm about 2021. He clearly still takes an active interest in the club which is fantastic and for him to spend his time for the Eels tragics in giving us his take for the pod, what a top man.
