Team List Tuesday – ISP Bye Edition

NRL Team List

Parramatta put on a clinic on Saturday as their previously inconsistent attack roared to life. The compelling nature of the 36-6 victory over the Raiders means that Brad Arthur has elected to retain the same seventeen players. Young bookend Daniel Alvaro will reprise his role in the starting team. Kaysa Pritchard can perhaps consider himself unlucky to miss out on selection after a gallant effort in a losing Wenty side on the weekend. No one in the Wenty squad will be able to further their claims on a first-grade berth this week as their first scheduled bye of the year has arrived.

Holden Cup Team List

The rather epic, if entirely typical result of the grade, 34-20 comeback victory in the Holden Cup means that Luke Burt – much like his senior coach in Brad Arthur – has retained the same playing roster in Round 7. Senior players Denzal Tonise and Alex Twal are in the injury ward with as of yet unknown injuries while Bevan French is projected to be back from anywhere between 3-5 weeks

Hi forty I watched the u20’s on replay and payed particular attention to young Jack Morris and I was very impressed with his work rate he is a good footballer in the making, he really worked his butt off in both attack and defence, see you on Saturday.

Jack Morris is my longer term smokey from this year’s NYC team. Intelligent ball runner, terrific work ethic and a massive ‘effort’ player, which is to say he is the guy that always pushes across to give himself the chance to make a cover tackle and always chases through on grubbers to apply *that* much more pressure on the opposition. I will likely highlight he and a couple of other NYC talents in a standalone article in the future.

I’m trying to get a handle on this NYC team. Dargan is certainly a standout, and the forwards seem to work well as a unit. There is certainly inconsistency, even within a game. Typical of NYC. But Burt seems to be getting the best out of this squad right now.

Heh, trying to get a handle on the Holden Cup is an odd and difficult process! I think Burt is doing a pretty good job considering the balance of everything. The team is relatively well disciplined for a NYC outfit and we look to be squaring up against most teams fairly well considering how small our forward pack is in general.

Fuimaono looked like a man amongst boys in the first few rounds. Talked him up to my old man at the panthers game and he looked terrible.

Good to see him move back into the forward pack, that will get him ready for Wenty/1st grade a hell of a lot quicker than centre.

Anyone know what caused the off game?

A good chunk of the team will be graduating but some of our most important players still have another year of eligibility. Troy Dargan, Michael Doolan and Denzal Tonise (3/4 of our spine) will be available for NYC selection next year. Other notable talent includes Dane Auckafolau and Anthony Layoun (currently injured) which isn’t a great deal I realise but I believe the club is banking on the extremely talented SG Ball squad to push through and claim the majority of the vacant positions in 2017.

Kaysa, there’s a guy that keeps IDG and Peats honest and hard working. With a guy like that nipping at your ankles, you KNOW you have to play hard and honest every week to keep your spot.

It’s interesting to note that even in a losing team (as Wenty went down to the Mounties), Kaysa was still named in the NSW Cup team of the week.

    Well played Kaysa!
