The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!
Parramatta are fresh off the bye as they host the Gold Coast Titans but they are without Mitchell Moses and Dylan Brown…so how will they fare? The Tip Sheet look at the ways in which the Eels can win in Round 16 and how the new look combination of Dean Hawkins and Joash Papalii will handle the contest.
NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg previews against the Newcastle Knights are also on the table as the Eels look to bounce back from losses against the Warriors in both grades last week. Sixties and Forty20 also do a quick breakdown of the NRLW and Harvey Normans Women’s Premiership trial at Kellyville on Saturday as both competition gear up ahead of Round 1.
I think JR is now looking to the future and his team selections seem to reveal this. Joash at six is a big ask – up against Foran. We have too many injuries at the moment. I think Mitch should pass up on the Rep games, too many times he gets injured. I think as bad as the Titans are they simply have too much speed and that will be the difference. I can no longer tip the Eels with confidence. It’s more like hope! I am beginning to think we will be involved again in the spoon bowl. Then again I could be wrong. Let’s hope so!! Maybe for the last six games we get the band back together and come home on a wet sail, whatever that means.
Zero, I’m confident we’ll fight hard but yes it will be a tough ask. As for Mitch, the trouble is that he’s been a late bloomer as far as rep footy is concerned. I can’t imagine asking someone who’s just earned such personal accolades to step aside. If he did that of his own volition it would be extraordinary.
Sixties, as a Parramatta supporter I expect Mitch to step aside from rep footy, at his age he is prone to injury and like many many others I expect him to prioritize the Eels from here on out.
Cam Bamblett and Petrus are rested until after schoolboy nationals.
They played Mulholland on Tuesday against St Marys in Maitland.
Parra juniors killing it Mulholland Cup btw.
Thanks for the update. School rep calendar alongside grade footy is something that has to be managed carefully.
All Saints Maitland meant to say.
Mitch must retire from rep football. A combination of age and some significant injuries justify the club at least having conversations around him retiring as many other players have done recently.
Mitch hasn’t even goal kicked because of his load issues, and his pre season was greatly hampered .
If the upcoming pre season is again an issue, Moses must concentrate on the Eels who have put faith in him by signing him for 5 years.
We can’t have another season where our best players are playing less than half a season. It’s not on.
Yes, this is what the general consensus is.
If he’s only playing 6 games a season for us then we need to get rid of him, who out there thinks we can win the comp when our marquee signing is either out injured or prioritizes rep footy even though he’s not up to it fitness wise
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of his but he needs to respect the jersey now
It cannot continue and I thought we were reimplementing honour in the jersey and dropping those players that weren’t up to it
If I’m honest I’m seriously pissed about this situation that we are in
I’m starting to throw that definition of insanity around in my head with this one…doing the same things over and over and getting the same result. It’s not subjective, there is history/evidence, Moses is not getting any younger, the stakes are high and he is key in Ryles’ communication structures. Yeah, I think we definitely need a different result.
Where not going to get rid of Moses when half backs are as rare as hens teeth. But there’s a conversation the club need to have with him as we are his employer. No team can force a player to retire but Mitch has to come to terms on what’s best for the club, and with his recent issues, I have no doubt 2026 will.hqve similar consequences.
His foot isn’t yet fully healed, he now has calf issues, and Origin isn’t getting any easier.
If he was in his mid or lare 20s sure, continue with the rep scene, but at 31 or 32, it’s too much pressure on his body playing 3 grand final like games physically, it’s virtually impossible.
Cherry Evans did it but he had great luck with injuries, Moses has the runs on the board injury wise, and the chances of him breaking down are higher now. If this continues, it could be career ending, and what’s the point of he can’t compete
I just can’t get past how we are thinking this game is going to be a tough ask for us to win because we’ve got a few out. I’m not saying the game will be easy but We’re playing the team coming dead last who have been an absolute rabble all year. The titans will not beat us if we lose it will be all out of our own doing there last for a reason. If we’re a club who back our systems and our depth we’ll find a way to win this no excuses.
I really hope papalii brains it so we can just move on from Dylan. I’m not a Dylan hater by any means but his last two seasons we’ve had absolutely no success with him in the side so it makes no difference to me anymore if his not there. It’s rd16 we’re sitting 16th and his not here next year if ever there was a time to move on it is right now. GO WELL JOASHH
Hunter in cup is getting better and better, if we stay internal for a five eight he would be a genuine contender with Joash and Lorenzo.
