The Tip Sheet – 2025 Ep 58: Round 13 Previews vs Panthers

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

The Eels are playing a home-away-from-home game against the Penrith Panthers and The Tip Sheet is fired up with the club also chasing a 3rd straight victory. Sixties and Forty20 have plenty to cover this week, including some sad news and the results out of the 2 State of Origin clashes that took place.

All 3 grades face the Panthers this weekend starting with the Jersey Flegg in a Top 4 clash at St Marys. The boys look at the exciting match-up that features 2 more SG Ball graduates in Cameron Bamblett and Dom Farrugia. The NSW Cup play the curtain-raiser at CommBank and will be looking to keep in touch with the top of the table while the NRL fixture sees a galaxy of stars backing up from Origin. Can the Eels pile more misery upon the reigning premiers?

Please note that the Sunday function at Parramatta Leagues Club has now been brought forwards to a 1:00PM start as opposed to the 1:30PM start time we advised during the podcast. The club has confirmed with us that there will be a couple of 2025 NRL squad members in attendance from 1:00 to 1:30PM as part of a panel.

Thanks, guys. Enjoyable listening. This game is a real litmus test for the Eels. Win and it’s onward and upward. Close loss still gives lots of positive vibes. A relapse would be a difficult learning experience. They were great against Manly but the Riff forwards won’t be as soft as were the Sea Eagles. If our boys can hold through the middle then we’ve got some strike power in the backs and creativity on the bench. Looking forward to the game. Go Eels.

I’m trying to justify whether our 2 back from Origin or the Panthers’ 5 will be the better boost. Then I thought well the Panthers needed a much bigger boost than our non-Origin team which has been showing promising signs. Maybe that’s the key here, Moses and Lomax just add competence and class to an already good combination of players, and it’s a case of 2 is better than 5 when the other pieces of the machine are working well. Anyway, it’s a positive theory.
