The Eels and Mitch Moses have agreed to a contract extension to 2029, effectively ensuring that the Parramatta captain will spend the remainder of his career wearing the Blue and Gold.
In signing the deal, both parties will avoid future media speculation surrounding the option in Moses current contract. That option would have required a decision around this time next year, a scenario that only brings disruption.
Eels supporters are no doubt overjoyed that the newly appointed captain has placed his faith in Jason Ryles and the coaching staff to deliver what is probably one of the few major goals left on his wish list – an NRL Premiership.

The Eels official media post
Mark O’Neill, Eels General Manager of Football, also commented on Moses’s commitment, “Having a player of Mitch’s calibre commit the rest of his career to the Eels is fantastic news for his teammates, our partners, members and the entire Eels community,”
From my perspective, the deal also marks a significantly improved contract negotiation process between the Eels and Mitch’s agent, Isaac Moses. It was finalised with zero public fuss, and though we aren’t privy to any of the details regarding the talks, both parties must be happy to be able to simply announce an outcome.
Moses has previously spoken about his childhood support of Parra and the honour of being named Captain. There are now thousands of young Eels fans who list Mitch as their favourite player. Who knows what future Eels Star he will inspire.

Yes to more Moses celebrations
Through his TCT series on the greatest Eels players of the last 50 years, Chris Ricketts list Moses as the second greatest halfback, sitting only behind Peter Sterling. Moses story has not yet been fully told. His legacy is yet to be left.
For now he has an important role in Parra’s 2025 campaign.
This week’s Eels season launch confirmed that within the playing group there is a palpable excitement and positivity about the upcoming season. The contract extension of Mitch Moses will add an element of confidence in what the future holds for the team.
With our captain locked in, supporters will no doubt be hoping for further contract updates.
Bring on the good news!
Eels forever!
Sixties
On a side note, it doesn’t matter what day we record the TCT news podcast, something big always drops straight after! You can literally lock it in!
Well the deal makes him close to the highest paid player in the game, that usually greases the skids where managers are concerned.!!!
In any event, the ball is now firmly in your court Mr Brown.
Wonderful news and imo with the eels apparently giving him a top up financially and informing brown there will be no monetary increase there not concerned if he stays or goes , Dylan for all his abilities is flakey and drifts in and out of games , would love to see faologo play fullback and longhi 5/8
I tend to see it differently, I see it firstly that Mitch is giving him the tip, it’s time to fully commit buddy, and secondly I think the club are saying he will be rewarded if he stays.
That’s what I’m too mate
That’s what I’m thinking too
Good point
I truly hope not.
Dylbro has never earned the wages he’s been getting and certainly doesn’t deserve a cent more.
1.3m clubs are willing to pay him!? Goodbye and best wishes Dylbro
How much would Galvin be asking? I reckon just above half what Dylan’s is expecting
Great news. Now for Brown.
Brown is gone mate. He’d be absolutely bonkers to reject that money.
The Eels know it too.
Lots of moving pieces occuring.
Good news.
The strategy of getting rid of those player options has proven a good one.
Dylan is with the same agent as BA and one of his best mates is MA. Knights coach is BAs best mate and MAs God father….The agent is still pi$$Ed that BA got punted and the agent is probably acting out. (I’d love to see BAs call log recently)…lol. If he doesn’t go to Knights, then the Warriors are also in play with SJ money. Anyway it’s Dylan’s choice and money talks. Do we match $1.3 million and basically sign nobody else for another 2yrs….I don’t know it’s probably 2yrs until Juniors $900k comes up. So it’s not looking great if any of that is accurate.
Hopefully we find out soon.
Knights coach isn’t Boods Godfather. He’s Godfather to Charlotte, Matt’s sister. Brad wouldn’t have anything to do with a potential move of Dyl to the Knights. If BA was coaching there I might be concerned with Dyl’s relationship with Brad but he isn’t the coach. If accurate, the money is a huge temptation. I still see Dyl staying as his money will climb at Parra over the duration of his contract, which some media stories seem to ignore in their calculations. It doesn’t match the reported offers so the temptation remains. Hopefully it’s sorted soon if only to stop the speculation.
Anyway, this post is about Mitch. How good!
One short response Sixties. Fox is reporting a $6mil+ difference between the Knights offer and the Eels.
The difference emerges because the Knights deal is a lot longer. Not suggesting that a player should not chase longer deals. Just trying to clarify where the $6mil comes from.
Like you I think he will stay.
Thanks Sixties it was reported on Fox he is the god-parent. But I defer to your knowledge of those inner workings. I wouldn’t be surprised if some discussions hadn’t taken place between Dylan MA and BA…. like what’s O’Brien like as a coach or is he a great bloke etc. The agents clients do talk to eachother especially around contract time. As other clients can discuss informally and not get sanctioned…So I’d be surprised if discussions hadn’t taken place.
Surely Brown is smart enough to realise that it’s easy for him to look good playing with Mitch Moses. Mitch does all the things Dylan isn’t good at so Dylan can just run the ball. If he goes to the Knights on the huge coin the expectation will be that he does it all.
No amount of money is worth the pressure of playing in a bad team with an awful halves partner.
Parra should make this a blueprint on how they would like to see negotiations done. No doubt Moses got what he wanted here, but so did Parra. That’s a mutual benefit, and you can’t get that sort of commitment from each side by jumping to the media to do your negotiations for you. Note to all player managers!
With a distinct lack of quality halves in the competition, this is massive for Parra. Let’s hope he stays fit!
What you said there Longfin is at the heart of the matter. Contracts are a good document for business. However they only work when it is a win, win arrangement. Or as you rightly put it mutually beneficial.
When clubs insert player options it is only the player who benefits.
It is surprising that the NRL has not moved on player options to protect the clubs against themselves.
The NRL really can’t. It’s perfectly legitimate business. It’s really up to the clubs to say no. My two cents, I think the NRL has no business getting involved in any contracts except to register them.
Brett I accept your point and you and I have had this discussion before. However consumer law is in place throughout our legislation in Australia.
While this is not consumer legislation some clubs need protection from themselves. Broncos were the worst but as I understand it they now have no player options at all.
Under the new Chairman I believe that the Eels will not be entering into Player options again in the future so I am happy.
Exactly Longfin, and that’s why I made a point about the improved process.
Simply the best!! So glad there’s no more options. An extra 100k a year? That’s fine, at least he’s ours. The best result of this preseason!! My congratulations to the guys, getting this across the line. Mitch was never going to leave Parra, and neither is Dyl. Agents have a job to do, for their clients & themselves. Bottom line, I see Dylan hanging around. He’s been at the club for 9 years. Why would want to change. Money? No.
I’m inclined to agree, I’ve never thought he’d leave. Even the media are conceding that he’s likely to stay
I agree Brett, if the money reported for Brown is real, and not just media bs, he would have long gone. Brown has to weigh up all his options, does he move to Newcastle, if he does, will he uproot his family, whom he is very close to, or does he go back to NZ and take his family back with him. I think Mitch’s signing will tip him to staying, jmo.
Mick, I can’t guarantee that Dylan will stay. Just know that he loves the club and his team mates and they love him. I spoke with Dyl for an extended time on Wednesday night at the season launch. I didn’t talk at all about footy. I rarely do. So I can’t provide any direct quotes or insights from the man himself. I also figured others would probably ask him enough times given the event was about the season.
Agreed Gilbert and Brett
Good news. And while it was known the contract was being renegotiated, nicely done without being played out in the press.
Mitch has won Origin, played for Australia and now got a deal for life. Next is winning the comp which will make him a Parra immortal.
By the time he’s hung up his boots, Mitch will have legend status at Parra Shaun.
Obviously great news and a relief for the club and fans.
We’re paying a premium given we could have locked him down a couple of years ago before he really hit his peak and an 18th team is now booked in etc, so that costs us, but sounds like the lesson has been learnt on that front, though no one was held accountable
I’m led to believe that Ryles has a good , cordial relationship with the Moses player manager group, which unfortunately wasn’t the case previously. That likely led to the resolution we have seen in Mitch’s contract.
The Orr brothers not only manage Dylbro, but also BA and his sons and it should be known the Knights coach as well. Anyway, there needs to be a firm answer soon and we can get on with the outcome.
This is good news about Mitch! Stability, leadership, skill and commitment.
If I were in power at Parra, I’d now tell Dylan’s agent that you are unlikely to deal with him again. Untrustworthy, silly loudmouth. What an unprofessional stunt.
And with the halves talent lining up behind Dylan … Ronald, Dean, Josh and Apa (am I missing someone?) I’m not sure we have any worries.
There’s no future treating managers that way, they are there to get the best deal for their clients. Besides, have you seen how many players PSM has ? That’s a lot of players you’re cutting yourself off
But Orr is working for Dylbro, not the other way round.
Dylbro could easily say to Orr, “Okay my reputation is taking a hammering, the negotiations are affecting the club and team I play for annd disrupting the team at season kick off. Enough already. I’m doing ‘this’, end of story”
Nothing
Best news since making the 22’ GF and maybe even Ryles signing announcement 👏
Great that our best player is also a PARRA boy and not a mercenary only here for dollars. This means we will have a solid foundation for Ryles to build around and have absolute certainty and no contract distractions moving forward on his big money man.
Mitchel’s friends have stated this captaincy is a huge deal to him and this club truly means something to him – I too believe this
Gone be the days of stupid player options and players holding us hostage
Is brown goes for his $1.2 it will be a minor set back but coach Ryles no doubt has a plan up his sleeve and players like Tyran Wishart spring to mind (and would cost almost $500k less)!
Anyway.. enough of the speculation for today. 😅 Good times to come. And congrats to Mitchel and his family for solidifying their futures as well. Big money here and also very deserving for Mitchel.
If Dyl leaves I would make Will Penisini a five eight.
Would suit his running game, he can pass, would suit his defence as he can tackle he just sometimes has issues with reads in centres.
His kicking game might be an issue but Dyl does minimal kicking.
His brother can then take his spot in the centres next year and we have close to 1 mill to spend on another player position
Time for bed Tony
too funny!
Fantastic news, that’s made my weekend.
James Hooper must be devastated, that’s one less trash story he can write about the Eels.
There are some parallels between Mitch and the great Jonathan Thurston, both have played in a losing grand final, both have had success for their country and their state.
The missing piece for Thurston to complete his stellar career was a premiership which he finally achieved late in his career.
Jonathan was always going to retire a legend but that premiership ring took him to the highest level of legend status.
Mitch still has 43800 hours to complete his already stellar career with a premiership. Then he will sit on the right hand of Peter Sterling and be worshipped for decades to come.
Just read on a official Parramatta site Richard penisini and Riley Smith have been upgraded. great news
That is good news!
Take it as a rumour until confirmed but got a strong tip that Dylan is signing with the Knights (if he hasn’t already).
Just my opinion but I think the “strong tip” rumours are best put up on the other forum sites and keep this one for actual facts with a source that is reputable.
