The Tip Sheet – 2024 Ep 83: Open Season On Obstruction, Assorted Mouth & Nose Drama

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

With a degree of prophetic certainty, The Tip Sheet gets to unload on a bizarre defence of a crucial obstruction no-call from Graham Annesley just one week after highlighting a troubling change in interpretations on the very same topic.

It is safe to say that Sixties, Forty20 and Clint are fired up for this one as they hammer the code for circling the wagons on bad officiating. So yeah, that is the tone for this episode of The Tip Sheet! There are positive things discussed though as the boys celebrate another strong commitment to junior rugby league from Parramatta Leagues Club plus that latest on the roster overhaul as Reagan Campbell-Gillard is linked to other clubs.

The weekend recaps in the NRL and NRLW focus on some suprise results and second half comebacks before the boys poke at some controversial topics centreing around Latrell Mitchell and Kyle Flanagan with handy, handy 10m poles.

I have to admit that the way the game is going these days, is heading in the wrong direction at full speed. Having watched the NRL for years now, I really wonder as to its survival into the future.

Looking at how things are missed by the leaders its no wonder that the clubs are doing it tough especially with the plays by certain clubs and how they are getting away with basic play the ball errors last game and end of the game highlighted the highjack of the eels at full time.

The way the refs are ignoring plays in matches shows how loose the game is now? I also wonder if the new almost finished Eels emporium will get enough players to cove their matches once its finished????

Colin, the calls last week were a farce. But then the NRL doubled down with that first try to the Storm last night.
NRL: You think we could confuse you all last week, hold my beer!

Sixties, seems to me that the way the NRL is travelling these days is the farce comes out as the best bet, as to how the game of confusion has taken over from what may have been seen as regulated confusion.

Has anyone heard whether Ryda Talagi is moving on?

Penrith didn’t announce him with his brother, which might be a positive.

The fact Blaize is still in first grade might suggest that despite everything that has happened, we don’t want to get the wider family offside.

Remember when Blaize was spotted leaving Ivan Cleary’s house on the northern beaches he supposedly had his brother with him. I have no idea if the story was true or not, perhaps it was planted by his manager, in any event Blaize has ended up at Penrith.

You should just forget Annesley being fair dinkum he’s an ex politician. Why can’t the touch judges have more say and influence on decisions. At present they are as useful as store window dummies. Our failure over the years to contest or even complain about dud decisions has cost us our respect. You have to stand up and say your pissed off, or as the Panthers do , rort the system.

Ryda is probably going to continue to feed off us to a point and then move.
If he is any good then we need to nip this in the bud.

It would be silly for Penrith to waste a valuable development squad position when they can use one of ours.
The Talagi family want to do the right thing by the club, it’s a shame it’s not our club.
Ryda’s stock value is still rising, Moses won’t sell now, he’s yet to showcase Ryda in first grade.
