The Tip Sheet – 2024 Ep 46: Mortification Round; Fading Eels Put To The Sword By Storm

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

A pathetic second half fade from the Parramatta Eels has seen them fall 48-16 to the Melbourne Storm in Magic Round. Sixties and Forty20 attempt to debrief the horrific second half effort as coaches, players and trainers come into the firing line for the wholesale collapse.

What changes should be made and what can be salvaged for the Blue & Gold as they move forward to next week? Thankfully, an in-form NSW Cup squad has now given them options that simply weren’t there earlier this season but will Brad Arthur’s loyalty hold him back from making necessary changes?

As always, we understand that emotions are running hot right now. Fans justifiably want – and deserve – better on the field and you can express that here on TCT. Just please don’t make it personal with ad hominem attacks on coaches, players, staff and your fellow members of this community.

Such an embarrassing defeat at magic round!
    The biggest scoreline defeat!!
    Feeling ashamed of the team!!
Too much for fans to bear..

  2. Spike

Reserves won well. Can we expect any changes?
Surely, Lussick, Paulo, Lane and Sivo are done? They have all had way too many chances.

  3. Noel Beddoe

Our best in the threequarter line were Simonssen and Russell. Sivo can barely walk, let alone threaten a line

Joe and our number 13 wete our best forwards. Our thrre quarter line simply is not competitive with strong sides
    Pennisini is gping backwards quickly
The Arthur years peaked in 2021. Thete are lots of rrasons for the devline but we are now entrenched in the bottom eight, which is where wer’re gping to stay.
We now need a rebuild, earliest outcome 2026. BRAD has been a wonderful setvant of thr club; he does not have the qualities to take us forward.

    1. 56 years an eel

I thought Russell was a big part of Sivo’s problems. Every time he got the ball he ran to the sideline and never passed to Sivo.
When Sivo got a sniff of a chance he scored.
He’s a one trick pony but given a chance he shows the goods.
Agree on Ofehengaue. He was on from the start.

Arthur needs to go. He will never win back the confidence he has lost.
He hasn’t responded to the current issues
      He is responsible for:

Team selection: As the lads said in the podcast, baffling.
Lane needs time to get back to his best without the pressure.
There are young guys that need to come into rotation.

      Player training and motivation:
Our fitness – mostly mental, is missing in the second half. Only winning will fix that

      Game plan:
Just not good enough to respond to challenges.

      Defensive and attacking structures:
      The less said the better.
Both sides of the field are still confused in defence.
The wingers are still “Umbrellaing” instead of staying in the line and it makes sideline tries easy.
Good defences use the sideline to corner attackers, we make room for them to score.
We missed a mobile forward. I’d have started Moretti instead of Lane. We left too much room for Harry Grant to play in.

I think when Gutherson comes back, he goes to five-eighth if Moses isn’t fit.
He plays there anyway, and it gives Talagi a chance to grow into the fullback spot.
I always think of how Lockyer was far better at 5/8 and believe that Gutho would be the same.

I also agree with the lads that the rest of this year is about building a solid team.
Get the young guys into rotation and focus on fixing the obvious problems and maybe we don’t get to be the first team into mad Monday 2 years in a row.

Normally it takes 49 minutes to capitulate. This time we did it in 48. We’ll done!

A failure of leadership across the organisation is manifest on the field. We are Now the most embarrassing team on and off the field. All it now requires is a defeat against the Rabbits as the final insult to injury. As salt is poured into the wounds of eels fans and members.

These are the names of so called leaders of this failure

    Sean McElduf
    Jim Sarantinos
    Mark O’Neil
    Brad Arthur
    Junior Paulo

    Heads must roll.
Members start boycotting games, merchandise, food and drink purchases at games.
Stop spending money at the club. $$ is the only thing these bean counters understand.
Cancel memberships and write to the board to describe your hard earned dollars being wasted by fat lazy disinterested staff and players.

    1. sixties

Choose this path if you want. If you listen to this podcast, you can hear my pain too. I can assure you it’s not much fun recording a live podcast after this disgrace. But I’ll be supporting them each week and I won’t be surrendering my membership. We don’t want the club or the team to give up so I won’t either.

      1. pete

Sixties the team gave up long ago. This team barely plays 40min per game.
Imagine if the stadium emptied out at half time and we all went home. That’s what it’s like except the players are leaving at half time and we stay to the end like fools expecting something different from a poorly coached rabble.

The club is non communicative and non responsive to fans and members. The only language the hierarchy understands is loss of $$$. Sad but true. It seems the only course of action.

Sixties Do you have a better idea?

      2. Matthew Sweeney

I can’t be to critical of the players. The reality is , in this case, the Storm have better players. Warwick and coates are absolute beasts, Harry v lussick no contest. Will lacks genuine speed and very rarely finds himself in open air. Russel is average , his top end speed is good but lacks acceleration. We will need more than lomax to restore the talent balance
. We need a top notch hooker.
I can only imagine the frustration you have Sixties. I think Arthur needs to go because unless he gets 3 or 4 quality players things won’t change. Sad because he’s been so good for parra in myriad ways.

        1. pete

Just watch Rabbits lift after signing Bennett. All playing for their lives as we fold at half time all over again. It’s like ground hog day.

        1. Zero58

Mr Sixties – we are brothers – I have been through the bad, very bad and the good, the very good. I might get the dirts when we loss like that and they have many times. But, I could never dump them. I only ever watch grand finals when the Eels are playing. We are truly bad weather and good weather fans. When it is this bad there is always a positive – it can only get better.
Take care Mr Sixties tomorrow is another day.

    2. Glenn

You can’t blame that loss on 2 spine players missing. There are far deeper problems and it points to BA losing the players. Whatever he is telling them falls onto deaf ears. Where is the pride in the jersey? If BA has any dignity left he needs to fall upon his sword and go, make the decision the board should have when Bennett was available.

From what I can see and hear the club is a shambles from the top to the bottom. We cannot keep any decent players we develop and from what I’m hearing even Blaize is not keen to stay. And who would blame him after that disgusting performance. I’ll not renew my membership next year if BA is not gone after this year and major roster changes made.

What TCT should do is a post and give an honest assessment of the club from the top down focusing on:
      Footy club board
      HOF
Rest & Recreation, sorry, Recruitment & Retention committee
      Roster
      Coach
      Asst coaches
      Cup & Junior coaches
      Junior pathways

In reality a mid season review should be carried out focusing on the above areas and the board in all honestly has failed themselves and the club by not being proactive. S(h)itting on your hands and doing nothing is not helping the club that has regressed back to the spoon years and will, in all probability, put the club back years in reputation, sponsorship and membership and take years to fix. Making the footy (not Leagues) club financially viable is only part of their brief, making the club successful on the field is of greater importance as that drives profitability. Unless they can insure the club is successful in all areas from the bottom up they should not have a job.

I want this club to be a club where players, from juniors to seniors, want to play for and be proud to wear the jersey, where we are competing every year in the top 8 and being a serious premiership threat and being financially successful. However, the club atm is a rabble and a laughing stock and that starts and stops at the board.

  5. West Coast Eel

It cost me a fortune to get over to magic round from WA, and that’s the rubbish they throw up?!!! I wasn’t expecting a win, but that second half was terrible. Seriously, who can I contact at the club about some financial compensation? I’m so annoyed!!

    1. sixties

Mate, I declared in the podcast that fans who travelled there deserve to be reimbursed. Realistically it won’t happen, but it should.

      1. Steele

Witnessed the 64-point thrashing from Melbourne in 2019 Live at Magic Round – that was an implosion after Sivo was sin-binned for hitting J Hughes & Gutho spent 4 minutes or so arguing the point with Henry Perenara – they all dropped their heads after that and Melbourne didn’t let them touch the ball for the entire 10 min period where Sivo was off field. I wanted my money back after that mess.

This time; as the Rugby League Eye Test points out; after minute 48 our Eels just drop off a cliff – the mind wanders, legs get heavy and the flood gates open.

It’s worse now than 2019 and worse than Darwin this year, because these are experienced men who know their systems and *apparently* love the fans and coach.

Recruitment & Retention aside – – – the performances we are getting as fan DO NOT MATCH the quality & experience the side runs out with each week. Which means that the attitude or fitness or both is just not there.

Who cares if we don’t win every game?? Only Penrith go close to that, what we care about is the team playing like the believe in the cause, like they have pride in the jersey and respect for the fans. If they do that, they will always have my support.

        1. pete

Good points Steele.it seems everyone else can see the problems except those with the power to rectify it.
          Ground hog day

    2. Ron

I feel your pain – I’ve gone to magic round every year from syd and never came away impressed with us. Every year the Suncorp field looks too big for our slow bodies. The other team looks quicker and hungrier.

  6. Avenger

They need to tell BA that this will be his last year and name his successor ASAP. The board do not have the balls to sack him now so it’s a nonsense to discuss that. If we don’t it will affect recruitment/retention for 2025. This season is gone. BA, thanks for your service but your time is up. They are not listening anymore and your tactics are outdated. Go and chase the collision at another club.

  7. Milo

Agreed with some here – we can’t simply change coach and hope for a win.
Head of football and the rest: besides making calls on our team. Last yr we needed to do this and now this…
It seems we are a rabble – it seems there are too many comfortable players.
Our juniors and retention has needed a clean out too but those in charge seem to ignore.
Heck there was talk today Saints are looking at theirs…
I’m fed up / angry and like others feel another year has gone.
We need to all email Sarantinos etc

  8. MickB

Thanks gents, was satisfying to hear you guys let-loose a bit.

Yet another week I’m glad I couldn’t watch the game. A few friends were trying to get me up to Magic Round – but geez, spending 1,500 gorillas on that would have been a tough pill to swallow.

I said last week the focus needs to shift to 2025+. 2024 is gone, so we may as well start building for the future.

  9. DWP

Awful. Time for tough decisions. We cannot afford to meander into 2025 without serious change. A new era beckons, it’s a question of when not if. Agree with the changes foreshadowed in the podcast – failure to do so and the club may as well start drafting agreeable terms for BA’s exit.

As a fan, I see growing pains ahead with the required changes but these changes must be made before we begin the tough climb up from the bottom. We’ve done it before and we will do it again.

Thanks again boys for the tough carry doing the poddy after a loss. Very cathartic.

      1. Avenger

I also think it may have been worse than Darwin. I listened to your reaction and discussions with 40/20. There is not chance that Sivo, Russell, Lane and Lussick would be in my side next week under any circumstances. They have had too many chances and if we are being honest BA’s loyalty to them may cost him his job.

Even favourites like Penisini have regressed. And ‘leaders’ like Paulo should be shopped around as they are giving us little bang for buck.

        1. Sixties

There is no question it was worse than Darwin. Why? Because the Storm were the team that was highly disrupted during the game via losing Munster, and the conditions weren’t anything like Darwin. Furthermore, the fact that they capitulated in the same way for a second time made it far worse.

  10. Offside

    Honestly I’ve lost all hope.

I don’t see BA getting the sack we are a poorly run club it won’t happen.

I have always liked Lame but something just isn’t right with him he looks unfit and is making some very poor mistakes.

If I was Penisini I’d try get put as soon as possible he is going backwards
Blayze should take a offer elsewhere his development will go backwards with BA in charge.

Only positive Asi kicked 2 goals? Other than that I have nothing I’m done loosing games I can handle 30 years of support I’m used to that but giving up and not being competitive it’s not accaptaptable

  11. Sunders

Boys you keep giving Brad a free ride.
Brad built this roster with Mark O’Neill.
    Brad’s defensive system doesn’t work.
He has done a better than average job over his 11 years in charge.
He has had a more than a fair shot, surely it is time for a new face with fresh ideas.

  12. Ron

These games where the team straight out gives up are becoming a common occurrence. I am not looking forward to the usual spin deployed by parra players in their media interviews next week. They are like politicians – happy to say right thing but rarely do the talking with their actions.

    My suggested team list is:
Starters – Blaize, Simmo, penisini, Harper, Russell, Dyl, Asi, Rcg, ? , offa, Bryce, matto, hopgood.
Bench – Arthur, moretti, Doorey, junior

    My thinking
    – Start matto at backrow then move him into middle after 20-30 mins and bring on Doorey to backrow.
    – Russell is no centre – he has no passing skill and will never make it at centre so bring in Harper.
    – Penisni is lucky to be in grade with his pathetic defence but we have no other options.
    – I don’t know who starts at hooker as Lussick is awful in most phases of play but hands is not better
    – Junior is lucky to be picked as he is such a liability on both sides of the ball.

    1. BDon

Ron,I’d prefer to stick to the football as that’s the hit we want each week. Your team suggestions are about the best we can do with what’s available but geez it tells a sorry story. I’m starting to think that getting some new young blokes in will give Gutho and Moses something to work with during Origin. We’ll lose Hopgood I reckon, that guy is a 110 percenter, but like Penisini, the weight of what’s happening around him is proving awkward. The forward roster has flaws, so does the backs but they’ve also got a defensive system that Mick Cronin would have struggled in.
One observation I make is that the Storm blunted us with line speed, we just don’t respond well then put us away with hard running and support play. A 6 again and a penalty seemed to take them to another level.

  13. BP

This was reminiscent of those dark days of the Kearney/Stuart years. This side is filled with more talent than the squads of those years, which is more of a concern than a source of optimism.
Time to move to 2025 and beyond – Lane, Sivo, Lussick have had their chance and need to be dropped.
Guymer, Greig, M Arthur and Doorey (2 tries and another strong game today in cup) all need to come in and some of the flegg forwards through to Cup.
I’ll accept BA’s time might be up but Mark O’Neill should be leaving the building first.

    1. Joseph

Great post BP, your first paragraph highlights the gravity of our situation.
The team is playing like there’s a prize for who could be the worst.
Gol should rank the winners based on that this week, at least we’ll see a few A’s

  14. BDon

The Storms first set worried me, then we made 3 errors in the first 7 minutes. We rallied but our attack was ordinary. We folded after 50 minutes when a few things went against us, just didn’t seem to have the energy to hang in and compete. Sad, bad and mad.

    1. Trapped in the 1970's

Yep and apart from those three errors they also failed to get to a kick at the end of a set twice in the first 12 minutes. Maybe that was a tactic but as usual they came up empty in the 20.

  15. Hillbilly Jim

Penisini needs to go on the wing as defensively he is poor and can’t pass. Better off using him like To’o.

Gutho needs to start in centres.

Sivo, ASI, Lane, Lussick, Offa, makatoa, russell should not be in 1st grade.

No Arthur should ever play first grade for our squad.

  16. The Captain

Thanks for what would have been an unpleasant podcast to record.

It’s very clear we’ve persisted too long without addressing clear deficiencies.

Our Recruitment and Retention has been deficient for years.
Our on field defensive structures have been deficient for years.
Our edges have been easy to exploit for years.
Our discipline has been average to poor for years.
Our mental resilience has been a massive issue for years.
Our players going through the media for their contract renewals have been an issue for years.

Unfortunately, as a club we’ve failed to act on these deficiencies, hoping that grit and enthusiasm mixed with getting superb value out of some journeyman forwards would paper the cracks. And for a very small window it did just that.

But with an ageing squad and a few injuries suddenly (for the second year running) our deficiencies are laid bare.

We need to arrest this slide now. This is why we hire leaders with experience. We need the board and the executive team to act now, with urgency. Every day that goes by without changes is yet another day where we slide further away from being competitive.

For those calling for boycotts, I understand where you’re coming from – the supporters aren’t feeling heard, and if they continue to be ignored then I’m not sure what choice we are being given but to vote with our wallets (by slamming them shut).

    1. Joseph

Captain, the media and our sponsors will have plenty to say. I understand the disappointment the fans are feeling, I removed my Eels sticker from my ute after the Darwin debarcle, my wife replaced it wth an even bigger one and she was right. I wasn’t achieving anything.
Boycotts and cancelled memberships achieve nothing other than add to the problem.
Through thick and thin as the saying goes.

  17. Joseph

That was one of the best instant reactions I’ve listen too. Literally a two hour analysis compressed into 30 minutes without missing a beat.
Great job guys, the recording should be played at their next training session.

  18. pete

    Shameful display!!
Unfit fat lazy cowards only a couple can hold their head up.
    Peahearted incompetent feckwits!!
    Poorly coached
    Zero leadership
We’ve had player put on weight during the season!! How?

This isn’t just this game but it’s been 2 years in the making with failure from every level. Failure is baked into our DNA. Tulagi needs to sign elsewhere or his career will be doomed.

Watching other clubs dredge up talented juniors or fill ins and debutantes with ease. They enter in seamlessly to other teams we are a poorly coached, poorly prepared unfit rabble.
Absolutely disgusting. The gulf between our team and all others was visible to the entire NRL. The secret is out we are putrid on and off the field.

When I see Sarantinos I will give him a huge serve. He needs to meet with members in person if he doesn’t he is a coward!! He needs a townhall meeting this week!!

BA is clueless he’s out of ideas the players barely make it to half time and give up!!
How can anyone support team that gives up? How?
    Heads must roll.

  19. Trapped in the 1970's

Yep and apart from those three errors they also failed to get to a kick at the end of a set twice in the first 12 minutes. Maybe that was a tactic but as usual they came up empty in the 20.

  20. Shaun

We should look on the bright side is that Parra has not been thumped by 50 points yet so technically have not been eliminated from the grand final. So Parra just needs to win *checks notes* all 16 to their remaining 13 games.

Jokes aside, it was embarrassing. Other teams are missing significant players from their spines and are performing with intent it not winning games.

The changes bought in after 2016 and BAs coaching and the recruitment strategy served the club well leading to the 2022 GF. They were necessary to fix the mess from the previous administrations. However these seems to be no vision beyond this other than steady as she goes and no awareness that the game has changed. The players that did so well to lead Parra to a GF are no longer what they were. The recruitment strategy (apart from Lomax) has been lacking in filling the top 30 with the right players.

Changing just the coach is not going to resolve the issue. Sadly it seems quite a rebuild is needed to return Parra to being a winning club across players, coaching staff and administration.

    1. Noel Beddoe

We also should note, I think that Tui Kamika and Remis Smith scored multiples between them yesterday; both were in our junior system and were lost to us. Opacic, Bevan French, Tupou, Keary – there are players all over the League world doing well whose potential we didn’t see. Oregon Kaufusi is a big part of the Cronulla emergence. Retention, talent identification have in fact been bigger issues than recruitment. We have probably had the players through the club and juniors sufficient to win a competition – administrarion didn’t recognise them.

      1. BDon

Two forwards we could use right now Olakoatau and Curran, both with a bit of mongrel, one a weapon, one a workhorse, both not at pension age. Throw in Utoikamanu.
Water under the bridge.. salary cap, agents get in the way too.

  21. Matthew Sweeney

Has Bennett actually put pen to paper because maybe the Parra board will now make him a Godfather offer. He is the only guy that can bring change.

  22. Namrebo

Thanks for your efforts fellas. The background noise sounded like a few people drinking to numb the pain.

Agree with your thoughts on just about everything. A very sombre evening here.

I notice the official Eels website has been eerily silent since the game with only BA’s cut short press conference there. I guess the website content manager is still searching for a highlight to put in the weekly package.

What makes this one worse for me is it was against Melbourne which, as a club, still seems to think it has been robbed of its 2009 “premiership “ because the players all worked hard. We shouldn’t be absolutely motivated to put in an 80 effort every time we play the Storm yet it just doesn’t seem to happen.

    1. pete

All those emails to the chairman and all the people trying to cancel their memberships all helped. But Unfortunately BA sealed his own fate…
Hopefully a last ditch attempt at Bennett!!

    2. Ron

That’s sad. I really liked him as a person and I thought he good be great if backed properly but it has run it’s course. I don’t think sacking a coach fixes anything for us though- we need to Turf the head of football and others in exec. We also haven’t resumed Matt Arthur yet which is embarrassing because he’s clearly our future and we just sacked his dad. Pathetic planning from top to bottom from a bunch of cowards in exec who let brad cop all the heat while they fed him scraps

      1. pete

Yes Ron it is sad. O’Neil has blood on his hands and his position is untenable. He must be escorted of the premises.

        1. pete

Also the players are culpable in BAs demise. Reg said after Darwin I’ll die for BA and came out 10 runs for 78m. So there’s a few overweight forwards that should be punted.

          1. Ron

Players are a gutless mob. Besides Dylan and Talagi Moses gutho and hopgood – they should be ashamed with themselves for their lack of respect for their coach, themselves and their fans.

  23. Jerry Springer

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSS 😎😎😎😋😉😉😏😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜💕💕💕💕
    Yesssssssss😎😎😎😎😎

    1. Brett Allen

Piss off Chief, the fact that you’re celebrating this says more about what a miserable excuse of human excrement you are, regardless of whether it was the right decision or not. BA has given his heart and soul for this club and he deserves our respect for what he has done.

        1. Brett Allen

          Multiple ?
I was only banned from 1EE because I wouldn’t change my avatar. I could cold back anytime I want but have chosen not to.
What other site’s are you alleging I’ve been banned from ?

          1. Jerry Springer

Well you should have known it could have caused arguments and it did with a few of the others

      1. Noel Beddoe

He’ll be feeling down to-night; I hope in time he remembers his time at the clib fondly. He gave us a very great deal, sometimes in difficult circumstances. I hope the settlement will be on generous terms. There had to be a rebuild; it was hard to see Brad being the appropriate architect. The question is, who now? I’d be talking to Ben Hannant or John Morris. Flanagan would have been my first choice, but he’s taken

        1. Ron

Bennett if he’s not signed. Or maybe Josh Hannay. I don’t know but I hope not Jason ryles or John Morris.

        2. Brett Allen

I’d be looking at Jason Demetriou. The guy can coach, and he’d be keen.
          Why not ?

          1. Ronahi001@hotmail.com

Nah he’s damaged goods. He might be a useful assistant but not a head coach. There is a dearth of head coaching talent in my opinion

          2. Brett Allen

Because no one wants to hire coaches who’ve never lost.
Name a coach who hasn’t lost or been sacked and might be available ?
Would you then not hire Bennett, because by that standard he’s also damaged goods.

          3. Ron

Nice straw man argument – I meant JD is damaged goods as in the sense he got sacked a few weeks ago and his team had been atrocious for a year and a half after their almighty fall off last year. An off-season seemed to make it worse. Let JD have some time to reflect on his shortcomings before a club even thinks of appointing him as head coach. Let him be an assistant for a bit if he wants. But not at parra.

          4. Brett Allen

My point stands though. JD hasn’t list his ability to coach, and he wouldn’t start till next year anyway. I’m of the opinion that Souths gave up on him far too early. He’s a quality coach.

Have to agree with you Brett, there’s some pretty disgraceful comments on that other site that I’ve just read, not only Chief but I assume they’re good mates of his especially a comment from a bloke called Snake who has called for all Arthurs to piss off. Regardless of all those on that site that hated him (which was quite a few – you really have to admire their dedication to stupidity!!) you can at least show a bit of decency and thank him for his service taking a rabble of a team, admirably navigating the worst chapter of the Club during the salary cap debacle and still managing to make several finals series and a GF. They seem to forget all that in their haze of hatred. A few finals series were pretty unlucky tilts at the title too – the Storm loss after some terrible calls, the ref stopping play when they were about to score with a bloke down 50 metres away, the loss of Jennings on the eve of the game when they already had a few backline injuries. Clearly not much luck and still they were in most of those games.

          Well said Stubbyholder.
BA tried his hardest to get the best out if the players.
          O’Neil has to go!!
Some cowardly players that are a cancer of laziness need to be punted.

          1. Stubbyholder

I think there’s some players that simply don’t suit the current game style bought about by rule changes that have been made – unfortunately sometimes that happens, especially with the NRL making several changes seemingly at the end of each year. Also, some just seem to have been going through the motions so hopefully a new voice might wake them from their slumber. Also, it’s been clear for ages there’s a need for speed. Lomax is a very small part of that but nowhere near enough.

It’s a cesspit that’s really gone downhill since Phil Sim handed it over to Super.

          1. Stubbyholder

Not wrong there, Brett. I see a lot of people who used to post there only post here now. Funny that a lot over there bag this site constantly and incorrectly. Not sure why Super has a Code of Conduct on the front page when you see a bloke that was a moderator repeatedly calling BA a “shitc*nt” as well as others calling him a leach, a parasite and similar without Super doing a thing about it. But don’t suggest they aren’t real fans or you’ll cop it. It’s beyond being disgusting, it’s actually hilarious reading some of them carry on like pork chops all the while having no idea at all.

BA is an awesome bloke that did his best for Parra. He bleeds Blue and Gold he just couldn’t get the job done. I wish he did. But unfortunately it’s not easy. All the best BA.

So what’s the Cumberland Throw aka Brad Arthur fan club going to talk about now that your Messiah has gone???????
    Told you so…..

At least we won’t feel bad now speaking about BA – but the writing was on the wall

examples: the 1 dummy half team = burned out lussick.

Refusing to stop playing lane who keeps dropping the ball several times every game.

Having the slowest team in the comp with a bash in the middle strategy that clearly isn’t working anymore with our old roster and the game having evolved.

Since he’s been sacked effective immediately

Let’s not be cruel tho –

Brads done his best for us for 10 years and probably had sleepless nights working for our club & team

I Wish him all the best.

The club will at least get to see plenty more poor games this year after BA’s gone.

And the club will bare witness to its poor depth, extreme lack of speed, and total reliance on 1-2 players in mitchel moses and gutho.

My hope is Barret goes back to what worked last year with the 2 X hooker

Like when we had hands coming off the bench and adding fast hands & feet lifting the tempo and getting our forwards and attack on the front foot.

Don’t be surprised gentleman if our team becomes better over the next 6 weeks with lussicks load reduced – if barret does something about the #9 situation all of us could see.

Boods will also be up Trent’s sleeve and he will probably look to insert him into the team off the bench and spark up our attack.

Not a big Trent barret fan but at this point …

Anything is better than the strategy BA has been doing

Having 1 hooker on every game and especially lussick is honestly becoming a joke

Especially Lane being in the side weekly

If Trent can even improve these things we might start to score more points again and reduce our error count.

God bless you mighty eels 💪

Although not shocked, I’m am surprised.
Who knew Sarantinos had gigglies in his sack.
It’s important to remember where this club was before BA. He gave everything he had until he had nothing left to give. This is not a time to celebrate his departure, BA restored credibility to our club, I am saddened that he didn’t achieved the holy grail but he got us close. Thanks for your service BA and I wish you success in your next chapter.
