Well, it would be one for the ages if the Eels can pull off an incredibly unlikely upset. So I’m tipping them to do so against all expectations. Your heard it hear first!*

*this comment will self destruct if the Eels lose.

A lot of our defensive weaknesses on the left come from the backrower. He makes a tackle and takes 1-2 tackles to get back onside. That means the 6,4 and Sivo all are out of sync trying to fill the defensive hole the backrower has created. Sivo ends up jaming in. Usually, Dylbags compensates by mopping up defensively. With Dylbags on the right its highlighted lane’s lack of workrate/mobility. If you have a more dynamic back rower Dylbags has more energy for attack rather than it being mostly spent mopping up. It’s not the 6s job to be a backrower and an attacking half.
I love Lane but he needs a rest he’s not an 80 minute player. I hope I’m wrong but Bellamy will be all over any weaknesses.
Reg Junior and Blaize all need 20 carries 200m if we are to win.

Our forwards tend to thrive when the hooker plays fast and gets them on the advantage line, unfortunately that is not a strong point of Lussick abilities. The last few games have really underlined this issue, coupled with his tendency to tire noticeably in the games last quarter.

Certainly the speed issue remains a weakness , as has R&R for the past couple of years, if these are not addressed then not sure there is a lot of confidence in the results improving.

It is important that the team performs competitively in Magic Round to ease some of the disappointment this season has brought . Hopefully is is the start of improvement even when missing a couple of key members.

A real smokey for NSW 6 Ethan Strange. He’s a real footballer he’s tough and crafty. Given all the injuries. Madge also has been working with Raiders…if not this year it won’t be far off.
