Match Updates – Sixties
Roosters kick off and they’re offside! Unfortunately the Eels drop the ball on the second tackle. What a start as the Roosters now return favour.
Parra hit the left edge and Jasmine Rorani scythes through about 20 metres out and carries the fullback over the line.
Conversion unsuccessful
Eels 4 Roosters nil after 4 minutes
Parra are really peppering the Roosters line following a couple of mistakes from the tri-colours. Now a great defensive set from Parra has them back in the Roosters quarter. The Roosters field the last tackle kick but the error comes on the next tackle. Parra drive through the middle and set up for a shift.
Left it comes and the cut out pass to Sienna Bonnelo opens a channel for the winger to crash over in the corner.
Conversion unsuccessful
Eels 8 lead Roosters nil after 12 minutes
The Eels drive back downfield off the deep kick off. The 4th tackle is made inside the Roosters quarter and Parra gets a set restart.
Left it comes again and Aaliyah Soufan props off her left foot and cuts back inside defenders to score.
Conversion successful
Eels 14 Roosters nil after 17 minutes.
An error from Parra and the Roosters are throwing what they can at the Eels line. Great defence here and the Eels shut down the last tackle kick.
Penalty to Parra now as the Eels look to turn defence into attack. Once more Parra advance to the quarter but the Roosters hang on this time.
Another great defensive set as Parra absolutely dominate the middle. They field the kick and are at the halfway on tackle one. Driving darts out of dummy half and it’s back to the red zone. Right hand side now and Essence Alo draws the defenders and passes to Fiafia Freedom Crichton Ropati who crashes over in the corner.
Conversion unsuccessful
Eels 18 lead Roosters nil after 25 minutes.
Parra are on fire as I struggle to keep up with this description. They are straight back on the attack after the kick off. Now Fontaine Tufuga breaks the line and finds Danielle Seckold in support for the try.
Conversion from Bailey Ma Chong successful
Eels 24 Roosters nil 4 minutes to half time
Ots raining tries here. Parra again back in the red zone after the kick off. The girls hit the right side again and Essence Alo crashes through herself.
Conversion unsuccessful
Eels 28 Roosters nil
Half time sounds on an impressive half from Parra.
Second Half
A penalty to the Roosters relieves the pressure for them but they make an error on half way. Parra work back to the quarter but now they cough it up. Loose start to the second half, much like the first.
A flop in the tackle from Parra and it’s a penalty to the Roosters. Parra defending their line here and they do so brilliantly. The Roosters hoist a troublesome bomb but they fumble the catch.
Parra march downfield and their last tackle grubber kick picks up a Roosters touch and a six again call in the red zone. The ball is played in the left corner and Bailey Ma Chong wastes no time in testing the markers on a narrow blind. They hold her up but she finds the offload to Sienna Bonello who gets the ball down.
Amazing sideline conversion from Ma Chong!
Eels 34 Roosters nil. 19 minutes remaining.
An error from the kick off and the Roosters are again testing the Eels defence. This time they move the play to their left on a late tackle and their winger gets over. Conversion unsuccessful
Eels 34 lead Roosters 4 with 15 minutes remaining
Well that’s a powerful charge. Khyliah Graysmashes the ball up from just outside ten metres and can’t be stopped as she crashes over between the sticks.

Eels 40 lead Roosters 4 with eight minutes remaining.
A penalty to Parra in the kick off set. Gray has another huge carry then Sharon Latapu drives through next to the ruck and runs around the fullback to score Bailey converts.
Eels 46 lead Roosters 4 with 5 minutes to go.
The half century is now hit as Bailey Ma Chong goes herself from dummy half and scores just to the right of the posts.

Match Updates
Roosters kick off.
Both sides trading sets here with a couple of errors along the way. Eels defending quite well against a formidable opponent.
Good line speed from Parra and a cracking hit from Lindsay Tui and the Roosters cough it up on Parra’30. Scrappy stuff from Parra after the scrum and they’re lucky to retain possession. A penalty now but the kick for touch almost goes backwards.
Serious inroads from Parra’s forwards from the restart but it’s familiar territory as the error comes.
Sets again traded but the Roosters have the better of territory. The Eels field a last tackle kick on their line but the ball is fumbled in the play the ball. Now a penalty! Hang on, the Roosters fumble it on the second tackle and then give away the penalty. Sweet relief!
One tackle later the Eels have again dropped the ball. Parra are defending well but can they keep it up?
The answer is now answered. The Roosters second rower hits the left edge ten out and gets her fend working well. She won’t be denied as she crosses just wide of the posts.
Conversion nailed
Roosters 6 lead Eels nil with just over ten minutes remaining first half
The Roosters get to their kick and Parra field it and march 50 metres downfield and force an error off the kick. A scrum on the 20 here but the Roosters handle what Parra throw at them. The last tackle kick is overcooked so it’s seven tackles here. Now a penalty. Parra defend courageously as the Roosters ball movement attempts to stretch them. Now they have a couple of digs out of dummy half. Yet another penalty now as the tackle count in this first half mounts. A charge from beside the ruck follows and they add their second try just to the right of the posts. Conversion successful.
Roosters 12 lead Eels not with three minutes remaining first half.
Superb kicking from the Roosters half as she grubbers the ball into the in goal then chases for the tackle. It’s a line drop out and this defence is now too much for the Eels as the Roosters powerful prop drives through defenders to score under the posts.
The conversion is taken as the siren sounds.
Roosters 18 lead Eels nil. Half time.
Second Half
Unfortunately it’s only taken two minutes for the Roosters to add to their score as they power over from close range.
Conversion unsuccessful
Roosters 22 lead Eels nil three minutes gone second half.
Amazing work from Aysha-Rain Pietersz as she fields a low kick but letting it bounce off her legs and then into her hands. Parra complete the set and the Roosters return serve with a completion of their own that takes play into Parra’s red zone. It’s set for set the last five minutes but there are more questions asked by the Roosters. This time they get a few play the balls in Parra’s quarter and the Eels struggle to stop the half from scoring. But there’s nobody beside the marker and the dummy half literally falls over the line for the try.
Conversion unsuccessful.
Roosters 26 lead Eels nil. 20 minutes remaining.
Parra finally get their chance following a Roosters error in the kick off set. Scrum feed to Parra and the ball goes left and it’s dropped without one tackle completed.
Now another penalty to the Roosters. The ball goes wide towards their winger ten out from the Eels line and the Eels scramble forces a dropped pass. Parra now trying to get out of their quarter but they’ve thrown a forward pass! More defence coming.
Full marks to the Eels here. They got off their line well and eventually tackle the winger into touch. Out to the thirty metres but another loose pass is thrown and yet another incomplete set gives the Roosters prime territory. And once more Parra defend their line!
Wow. The ball goes wide to Peadon inside the quarter and she is in space. The Roosters fullback tackles her 30 out but another player flips in. Penalty and sin bin follow. Parra drive into the quarter of another string Peadon run. The ball comes left to Ryvrr Lee Alo who props off her left foot, straightens and scores between the posts.
Conversion from Bella Sandford
Roosters 26 lead Eels 6 with about 8 minutes remaining.
Parra back in attack on the back of a penalty. Last tackle and Alo throws a long looping pass out to Tui. There’s a wrap around and the ball finishes with Pietersz who charges to the corner for the try.
Conversion unsuccessful
Roosters 26 lead Eels 10 with three minutes to go.
Full time – Roosters 26 defeat Eels 10
Harold Matts Result
The Eels have defeated the Central Coast Roosters 28 to 21 after leading by the unusual score of 22 to 1 at half time.
Tries to Andes Johansson (2), Ryda Talagi, Andes Johansson, Wesley Pakoti & Samuel Mardini, with three goals to Lincoln Fletcher.
Incredible turn around from our LF team. A legitimate contender in the finals now they’re starting to put it together. The only team they now sit behind is the bulldogs
That was a complete demolition yesterday. The teamwork in attack, and the resolute defence, it was beautiful to watch. You can see the confidence growing.
Pretty good effort from Tarsha Gale too, Roosters took over the Indigenous Accademy for a ready made team. We do seem to suffer from investment in TG and NRLW compared to other Sydney teams. Hope that Steve Georgalis can use his involvement to improve the attention the club makes to its female teams.
The challenge for the Tarsha Gale team is eliminating those errors. I know they’d be working on it, but yesterday it was across so many areas. Losing possession in the play the ball, throwing a forward pass, losing possession in a hit up, dropping a pass. Yet, when they complete sets, the inroads especially through the middle are there. And the second phase play can be so skilful. Their first try came from spreading the ball inside their own quarter. They had a strong Roosters outfit under pressure at times yesterday. And the defensive attitude was strong and could have been lost but they kept turning up. They have now played some of the strongest teams. I reckon they will finish the season with some victories.
