The finals have arrived for the Junior Representatives which means Sixties and Forty20 are pulling overtime in this week’s preview podcast. The Tip Sheet starts with an in-depth look at the monster triple-header at Campbelltown Stadium on Saturday with the Harold Matthews, SG Ball and Tarsha Gale all qualifying for the same concurrent finals series in club history.

The Jersey Flegg are looking to extend their streak to 5 straight victories but face a worthy opponent in the Bulldogs this week. Injuries to Brock Parker, Turoa Williams and Beau Newlands have forced changes but the Flegg have shown maturity and resilience beyond their years through the first 6 rounds of 2023.

While the Eels have gone undefeated over the last month in the NSW Cup they now tackle the ladder-leading Bulldogs in the curtain raiser to the NRL on Sunday. Jack Murchie boosts the squad this week leaving Parramatta with a deep and talented team on paper.

The NRL preview is interrupted by breaking news that breakout utility Brendan Hands has been re-signed until the end of 2025. Sixties and Forty20 celebrate a good, common sense outcome for all parties amidst their analysis of Sunday’s game. Speaking of, the duo look at how the Eels can match a physical Canterbury outfit as the Blue & Gold look to ratchet up the physicality themselves.

Interesting fact that the club lost Josh Schuster to Manly as they already had his brother signed to a reserve deal and was used as enticement and a taxi to training being older.

Still surprised to lose Michael Gabriel given his highlight reel, but sometimes the family bond is difficult to break.

Looking forward, I think we’ve lost young Talen Risati as well, since his older brother, Lennox, is already playing SG Ball for the Bunnies.

But he can’t play Harold Matts until next year at the earliest, so let’s bring him home. Also, I noticed that Manly have signed up Blake Metcalfe. Should we be worried over where his younger brother, Lachlan, may end up?

    Great work again boys.

Quick question. You mentioned in the podcast that the SG ball were basically full strength minus Lebron. Is Cody Parry not good enough for the 17? Or still injured.

Also, ai remember someone we got from the Dragons. Burrows maybe? I recall hearing his name once in a call and seemed to go ok. Is he still around?

    Vheers.

Good point about Cody! I guess that the return of players such as Tuivaiti and Talagi distracted us. Cody was hoping to be back for finals and not sure how things look for him at the moment.
The player is Jack Burrows and he’s been playing prop or off the bench in SG Ball

I think that the Panthers have superseded the Storm as the grubbiest team in the NRL.

Notwithstanding the Knights threw it away in the second half. Just too many errors.

The Panthers are beatable. The Knights were running through the ruck getting behind the markers. It was working well. They also adopted BA’s tactics of kicking to Turuva. It worked.
