TCT Watch Party – Friday, July 25, Sterlo’s Sports Bar: Eels vs Broncos

Without question, 2025 has been a challenging year for Eels fans. Wins have been tough to come by but we are witnessing the genesis of a new team, one filled with young stars of the future.

Here at The Cumberland Throw, we want to thank you for sticking with the Eels, and for being on that journey with us in our tenth year of covering all things Blue and Gold.

So this Friday, at the Home of the Eels, Parra Leagues, we are hosting a Watch Party. It’s a chance to catch up with many of you, or in some instances, to meet each other for the first time as we cheer on our Eels in the away game against the Broncos.

John and myself with Dean Widders in Sterlo’s earlier this year.

Kicking off at 7pm in Sterlo’s, we’ll have our live preview, it’s then our shout with platters of finger food and give-aways, whilst Parra Leagues will have their $5 beer of the month on tap, club vouchers, and the game on the big screen. There’s no cover charge to join us for the night.

The food will hit at 7:30pm, whilst the match kicks off at 8:05pm.

On a personal note, I’ll be having a Canadian Club (or two) on the night in honour of Mum and her battle with an aggressive form of Lewy Body Dementia. It’s her favourite drink and I’m hoping you will join me in doing so.

Watching the footy is much more fun when you are part of our crowd, so come in and join us.

See you there, this Friday night.

Go you mighty Eels!

Thanks and hope it goes well, Sixties. I’ll be watching from my lounge room but I will give a thought to the mighty gathering of the Cumberland Throwites.

I’m truly excited to see how Joash goes at the back in NRL and how Dean goes at 6. Both are well worth a look ahead of 2026. Iongi currently owns the one but if someone looks outstanding he could add value in the centres, for example – part of the jigsaw. Most of us had Bayley as one of our top three in the three quarters – the coach doesn’t seem to agree. I guess that Ryan Matterson is testing the water in England ahead of a possible full time move next season. Obviously he’ll be massively successful over there.
    Fascinating developments.
