The Tip Sheet – 2024 Ep 73: Blues Make History, Parra Lower Grade Previews

The Tip Sheet is also available on Spotify and iTunes!

The NRL is on a bye but there is plenty of footy still to preview as The Tip Sheet covers action in the Jersey Flegg, NSW Cup and Harvey Normans Women’s Premiership. Sixties and Forty20 break down those games as well as the wild Origin decider.

Origin is over and the Blues have claimed a legendary series win. Mitchell Moses was at the heart of it all and produced a career defining string of games…but it comes at a huge cost. Parramatta’s superstar halfback ruptured his bicep and will miss the remainder of the season. The boys discuss one of the most brutal games in Origin history and how the Blues prevailed.

The previews cover a double header at Belmore for the Flegg and Cup while the HNWP are on the road to Wollongong where there are looking to knock over the Steelers.

Sadly it seems we are back to the days where even the bye was not always a given two points. But thank you for the way you keep showing up to talk Eels and footy.

But Wednesday night was fantastic. I only caught the second half and I scared the hell of out of my family when Mitch scored. For a player that people have (often unfairly) questioned he is now an Origin legend. Just needs a premiership and he will have had some career.

I agree mate, a premiership for Moses would be the icing on the cake for him and us poor suffering fans. I would love to see Gutho with a premiership before he retires.
As the boys mentioned in the podcast, Moses is at the peak of his powers, most clubs that win a premiership have an elite halfback. You can have the best choir in world but it would be useless and out of tune without an elite conductor, we have an elite conductor and while we have an elite conductor, we have hope.
Look at the Broncos, with all their pace and forward power, they will be lucky to make the 8. Their slide without their conductor is no coincidence.

Reynolds was back today for the Broncos and they win! Sure there will be roster changes etc but with a fully fit Mitch Parra and a fair run without injury would be a good chance of retuning to the eight in 2025.

Yep, imagine the club trying to sign Lomax now.
With all the rotten luck we have had, we did fall arse backwards signing Lomax when we did.
He’s not the answer to all our problems but boy a team that can boast Moses, Gutho, Brown and Lomax looks like a top 8 contender on paper at least.

Thanks Gents, I must admit, TCT is good Parra theory for me. With little to look forward to this season, I do look forward to each and every podcast.
The Moses injury, what were the odds? If there was a market for the player most likely to sufffer a season ending injury then Moses would have been clear favourite. As Forty often says, “that’s such a Parra thing”
Honestly, the club may as well start breaking mirrors, run over black cats and hand out umbrellas to guests to open in the leagues club. Why stop there, instruct Tingha Place to place chop sticks straight up in bowls of rice. Our luck could only get better.
