Harris Family Fundraiser

Unfortunately, cancer touches the lives of every Australian. Whether it be family or friends, we’ve all felt the impact that it delivers.

Recently, Angeline Ruka, the mother of Parramatta Eels SG Ball and Flegg player, Valance Harris, lost her battle with cancer. This has obviously been a tough time for her three boys – 18 year old Valance and younger brothers Terrance 16 and Credence 7.

Channel 7 reporter, Michelle Bishop, presented a news report earlier this month on how the community is rallying around the Harris family. You can view the report here.

A significant part of the fundraising efforts is an evening to be held at Guildford Leagues Club on November 3.

Event organiser Kevin spoke to The Cumberland Throw about the Harris family and the big night at Guildford.

“The Harris family are a beautiful family who reached out to support my family when I lost my mother to cancer. Both families are close, especially Valance and my son Kyle, and we wanted to do whatever we could to help. Cancer takes an enormous physical, emotional, psychological and financial toll on families, and the young Harris boys need support.”

“Starting at 6pm, this fundraiser is a family friendly evening featuring a three course meal and plenty of entertainment. There’s live music, a DJ, comedy, an illusionist, a hypnotist, and special guests. Of course there’s an auction and raffles so that people can get some great items and help to raise more money for the Harris family.”

Tickets can be booked via this link.

The Cumberland Throw has booked a table and we’re looking forward to seeing other Eels supporters in attendance. Let’s make the event a sell out.

Of course, if you can’t be there, you can still make a donation to this young family. Information on the fundraising can be found here.

Valance is a big mobile forward. I like his prospects as a middle forward. I don’t want to add to much here because Forty and I will be publishing a post about the young emerging Eels this coming week. He’s on the list.
