Team List Tuesday – Young Talent Time Edition

NRL Team List

The Eels emerged battled and clawed their way past the Canterbury Bulldogs to take their first step away from the bottom of the ladder in some time and their reward this week is none other than 3rd placed South Sydney Rabbitohs. Hooray!

Still, the Eels had their foot on the throat of the South Sydney Rabbitohs when they met back in Round 15 before a sequence of bumbling errors let the Bunnies right back into the game. In spite of all their struggles in 2018, the Eels have shown themselves more than capable of trading punches with the top dogs of the 2018 season…just they have developed something of a glass jaw.

It almost feels wrong to post a team list without a new injury and this week’s unfortunate sacrifice is George Jennings. The middle Jennings brother misses his rematch against his younger brother Robert Jennings and is now out of action until Round 22. The resultant backline re-shuffle sees Jarryd Hayne bump out to the wing with Brad Takairangi taking his place in the centres. David Gower is recalled to the bench as he looks to edge closer to his 100th NRL cap (currently on 98).

Kane Evans, he of sensational ISP form coming off a 200m/27 tackle/2 try effort, leads the shadow bench ahead of Greg Leleisiuao, Jaeman Salmon and Suaia Matagi.

Intrust Super Premiership Team List

Despite slumping to yet another loss in a dismal season, the mood to come out of Sunday’s loss was overwhelmingly positive from Sixties and other participants in attendance. The reason being of course was for the pleasing efforts from a number of exceptionally young players across the park alongside the superb individual game from Kane Evans. The likes of Dylan Brown, Haze Dunster, Jaeman Salmon and Oregon Kaufusi earnestly plied their trade against the Newtown Jets as they all compile their various port-folios ahead of the 2019 season.

There aren’t any significant changes to report this week as the young brigade hold their places in the starting line-up. Wenty travel to Cessnock to face the only team positioned lower on the ladder than them in the Newcastle Knights.

Jersey Flegg Team List

The Eels were forced to draw heavily on their depth on the weekend with a trove of their young stars either injured or away in the ISP chasing bigger things. The handicap proved to be just too much as they fell valiantly to one of the top seeded teams in the competition in the Cronulla Sharks.

It doesn’t get any easier this week as they travel to face the top placed Newcastle Knights but such is footy. With the exodus of talent to the ISP this week, Dean Feeney has called up a number of SG Ball stars to potentially feature on the weekend. William Kei, JP Nohra, Brent Barnes and Charbel Tasipale are part of an extended bench as they jockey for playing time on the weekend.

What are the chances of Kane Evans and GL getting a run against the Rabbits. One or both, maybe both unlikely. Good opportunity to give GL a run on the wing.
